Gardenia Bush Blossoms

Gardenias are subtropical plants that thrive in warm, humid weather. Most gardenias are hardy in zones 8-11, though a few varieties hardy to zone 7 have been developed and a few are only hardy in zones 10 and 11.  Gardenias can be grown in pots and brought inside in cold climates. See How To Care For Gardenias  for more information.

My little gardenia bush has had three blooms this month. The first I brought into the house to the enjoy.  The next week two more blossoms appeared.

I was raised in Tennessee but have lived in Florida for many years. Love my small home in the Tampa Bay area and its developing garden. My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. Your flowers are always gorgeous Carol. We went and got some flowers to put in the pots to decorate the front & back of our place even though the builder hasn’t come to finish my lot. I’m so tired of all of the mess.

  2. What a beautiful and prolific bush! I can only imagine the fragrance– I’m glad you are enjoying them both inside and out.

    1. They only last a few days and now are gone for a year. Something to look forward to next year.

  3. Gorgeous snapshots of gardenias. I must admit to feeling a little jealous whenever I see my sister’s gardenia bushes in Florida. Their scent is heavenly. It almost puts me to sleep!

  4. Such a beautiful flower. They are a purely indoor plant where I live and I’ve never tried to grow them indoors.

    1. Gardenias are semi-tropical so I doubt they grow outside in the UK. They can be frown inside or in a greenhouse. When I grew up further north, I only saw gardenias as corsages.

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
