I’m sitting here writing this post on June 1st, a hot, humid day here in Tampa Bay. The predicted high is 93 degrees F but with a heat index that feels like 100 degrees. Summer came early this year right when I was supposed to be enjoying perfect spring days a couple of months ago. Some years we go straight from winter to summer. Really, the calendar I think is based on averages, and there is nothing average about a semi-tropical climate. When summer comes, we’re hot and humid tropical. It’s almost the end of September and here in Florida it’s hot with blue skies. The only difference from August I see are brown leaves falling from the crepe myrtle tree and less rain. In my heart I know it’s fall and I’m adding deeper colors and texture to my coastal home.
