The Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge is known to locals as the Sunshine Skyway Bridge or more casually the Skyway. (Daniel Robert Graham is an American lawyer, author, and politician who served as the 38th governor of Florida from 1979 to 1987 and a United States senator from Florida from 1987 to 2005.) The bridge spans Tampa Bay, Florida with a total length of 21,877ft. It is part of Interstate 275 (I-275) and U.S. Route 19 (US 19), connecting St. Petersburg in Pinellas County and Terra Ceia in Manatee County, Florida, passing over the waters of Pinellas County, Hillsborough County and Manatee County, Florida. Construction of the current bridge began in 1982, and the completed bridge was dedicated on February 7, 1987. It is the tallest bridge in Florida. It is 430 feet tall at the highest point to allow tall cruise ships to go under as they enter Tampa Bay.

Clearwater is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida, USA, northwest of Tampa. To the west of Clearwater lies the Gulf of Mexico and to the southeast lies Tampa Bay. Today’s photos come from a drive on the bay driving into Clearwater, Florida.
Summer is hot and humid in Florida with frequent showers. It’s hurricane season but the sky is still usually blue.
Making A Snowman in Florida
On Sunday November 17th Tampa Bay had the lowest high temperature for that date in recorded history. The high was only 53 degrees F. Now I know what you’re thinking; it sounds like a great temperature to those of you up north. It was over 20 degrees cooler than our average for this time of year. November is usually warm to hot. On the Friday before, a cold front moved into the area from up north where many folks got snow. The skies looked like snow but we got 3 to 4 days of cold rain with grey skies. Then our usual blue skies returned with mild temperatures and lows in the 40’s and 50’s. Love this kind of weather.

Decades ago, I came on a vacation one week in February from middle Tennessee to Miami, Florida. A friend I visited showed me the beaches, Biscayne Boulevard, and local attractions. We had great seafood, barbecue, and everything in between. We even took a short trip to the Florida Keys.
