25+ Fall Appetizers

Life has been different since the pandemic began last March.  Large social gatherings have been dropped and seeing extended family has often been deferred.  We’re in the beginning of the favorite time of year for many people.  Colorful leaves, costumes at Halloween, Thanksgiving turkey, and then the holidays of Christmas and New Year provide a steady stream of fun and diversion.  Perhaps this year is different, but we can still enjoy our favorite celebrations  even if they are small and intimate.  In some ways that may make it even better.

Spinach Strawberry Salad

I do love strawberry season here in Florida. Strawberries are a cool weather crop, and strawberry season usually runs from December through March depending on the weather and temperature. Right now Florida spring strawberries are still in most markets. By late March and early April the US markets switch back to California strawberries. Savory Salad with Grilled Asparagus

Asparagus, fresh and green, means spring to me. I’m always happy when I see spring asparagus in the market.  Today’s treat is an asparagus salad with a lemon vinaigrette.  Start with the freshest asparagus you can find.  Grill after tossing with a little olive oil and salt and pepper. Add spring baby lettuce, tomatoes, a little cheese, and even mushrooms if you’re in the mood.
