Halloween Spider Eggs

Today’s treat is another fun food art for your Halloween gatherings – Deviled eggs decorated with black olive spiders.  Like last Monday’s recipe for Monster Eyes, use your favorite deviled egg recipe or mine.  If you want a gross monster look, add a few drops of green food coloring to the egg yolk filling. I’m not crazy about food coloring, and I stayed with the traditional yellow filling. I think it’s still fun. Cut your eggs in half lengthwise and fill with your deviled egg mixture.

Halloween Monster Eyes

Halloween will be here in a few weeks and it’s a time of celebration and fun!  This year I am adapting deviled eggs for monster fun. Use your favorite deviled egg recipe or try this one.  If you want a gross monster look, add a few drops of green food coloring to the egg yolk filling. I’m not crazy about food coloring, but I am showing you my result. The amount of coloring is up to you.  I think they’re still fun with the traditional yellow filling.  Cut your eggs in half lengthwise and fill.

Maple Figs & Almond Brie

Any time is the right time for brie and fruit.  Add wine and your taste buds will dance. This elegant appetizer is perfect for late summer and early fall get-togethers. It is also a great dish for holiday parties. This is a fast, easy appetizer so begin to bake it when your guests arrive. Within about  20 minutes, everyone will be happily eating baked brie. This really isn’t a particularly inventive recipe. It is just 4 ingredients that will be a hit at the party!

Fruit salsa with cinnamon chips is the perfect answer.  Easy to make and loaded with the fruit of the season, fruit salsa is a great party food, dessert, or a snack.  I’m basing my salsa on fresh strawberries with apples and raspberries. Can’t find raspberries? Try a tropical twist with crushed pineapple. Yum! You can also substitute with the fruit of the season – peaches, nectarines, grapes, the list never ends.
