Last autumn my nephew and his new bride Lisa shared their photos from their honeymoon in northern Michigan. Two weeks ago they returned to the northern part of the state to celebrate their first anniversary. Many thanks to Robert for sharing his sunset photos.

The Detroit Institute of Arts, known affectionately as the DIA, is a world renowned art museum. Founded by prominent Detroit citizens in 1885, the museum opened on September 1, 1888 in a building on Jefferson Avenue. In 1927 the museum moved to its current location on Woodward Avenue, just north of Warren Street. The Beaux-Arts building, designed by Paul Cret, was immediately referred to as the “temple of art.” Two wings were added in the 1960’s and 1970’s, and a major renovation and expansion that began in 1999 was completed in 2007. During my recent visit with my sister in Farmington, Michigan, I spent one morning photographing some of the older houses that drew my attention. Today I am sharing a charming home with shade trees and flowers. I like the landscaping and the warm color of the exterior. The photo below also shows part of the blue home next door. Read More
