Fairchild Tropical Gardens

Fairchild is dedicated to exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants. We are one of the premier conservation and education-based gardens in the world and a recognized international leader in both Florida and international conservation. Currently Fairchild has field programs in over 20 countries including support to protected areas in Madagascar and Africa and botanic garden development and renovation projects in South and Central America, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

 

For many years I lived in South Florida. I moved to greater Miami back 40 years ago.  Later I moved slightly north to the greater Ft. Lauderdale area.  I have many friends in Dade County, Broward County and even just north to Palm Beach County and love visiting my favorite spots when I come back. Read More

A Beautiful Day in Miami

One of my favorite places in greater Miami is Key Biscayne. Key Biscayne is a Florida town on a barrier island across the Rickenbacker Causeway from Miami. (The causeway is named for WWI flying ace, Eddie Rickenbacker. He and his wife had a home in Miami toward the end of their lives.)  The view of Miami across the Miami Bay is always wonderful, but some days it’s incredible.  Today’s photo is one of the best.

Welcome to Miami!

Back in my 20’s, I moved from Tennessee to Miami, Florida.  Miami is an international city filled with multiple cultures and of course beautiful weather.  I fell in love with Florida back then and lived in greater Miami and greater Ft. Lauderdale for many years.  I moved to the west coast of Florida back in 2008, but I love to go visit friends in South Florida.
