Trumpet Honeysuckle on the Arbor

The name “honeysuckle” can refer to any of the almost 200 species in Lonicera, the honeysuckle genus, not to mention all the varieties within each species. They vary considerably in appearance, growth habit and exuberance. Trumpet honeysuckle does not have the fragrance of most honeysuckles but makes up for it with ostentatious beauty with their clusters of long, red trumpets joined at their bases.  Here in central Florida my Florida native, trumpet honeysuckle, blooms all year.

Beginning of March in Jenna’s Garden

Azaleas are in the Rhododendron family.  Most azaleas are hardy to planting zones 6-9, with a few varieties tolerating colder temperatures up to zone 4.   Plant azaleas in partial shade or in a spot with morning sun and afternoon shade.  Acidic Soil: Azaleas prefer soil with a pH of 5 to 6.5.

Florida, My Home

Decades ago, I came on a vacation one week in February from middle Tennessee to Miami, Florida. A friend I visited showed me the beaches, Biscayne Boulevard, and local attractions. We had great seafood, barbecue, and everything in between. We even took a short trip to the Florida Keys.
