After Memorial Day and throughout June, I think it’s a more patriotic time leading up to the 4th of July, our Independence Day. I usually decorate with red, white, and blue. Since I’m also fond of coastal decor, this last week I’ve spent a day or two playing with graphics for a new floral anchor in red, white, and blue. You’ve probably noticed that I’ve shared a few new printables in the last few weeks. I’m feeling good after surgery and am recovering well. Playing with graphics to create something beautiful has been a fun occupation of my time. The print is sized 16″ x 20″.

May in the Dining Room
I’ve not spent much time on decorating during my recovery from surgery. Mostly I’ve updated the dining area. Since I’ve spent a lot of time at home in the last month, I definitely wanted a change of scene there. First I rotated art in my home and put my floral anchor print on the picture ledge. (You can find it at Adding Coastal With Floral Anchor Printables.) I use coastal accents a lot in my Florida home. Then I added two colorful glass bottles with flowers. It really brightens the room.

I’m sitting here writing this post on June 1st, a hot, humid day here in Tampa Bay. The predicted high is 93 degrees F but with a heat index that feels like 100 degrees. Summer came early this year right when I was supposed to be enjoying perfect spring days a couple of months ago. Some years we go straight from winter to summer. Really, the calendar I think is based on averages, and there is nothing average about a semi-tropical climate. When summer comes, we’re hot and humid tropical.
