One Pot Ham & Veggie Pasta

Today’s recipe, Ham & Veggie Pasta, is a hearty meal but easy to make for busy weeknights. What makes it superb for summer is all the cooking is in one stove top pot. For summer, I suggest you buy a center cut ham steak of about 1 to 2 pounds. 2 cups of chopped ham is approximately 1 pound; you’ll need 2 1/2 cups for 6 servings. When fall and winter comes, use leftovers from your baked ham. I used a defrosted frozen green peas and carrot mix for my veggies, but you could just use just green peas or another vegetable.

How to Start a Garden Business

I love gardening. Unfortunately, my arthritis keeps me from doing it. Difficulty maintaining a home and garden was one of the reasons I sold my house and bought a condominium. I do container gardening a little in my condo. Remember last week’s post, Frangipani on a Summer Day? I cut a branch off my frangipani (plumeria) tree at the house to grow a tree here at the condo in a large container. If I were younger and didn’t have bad allergies to pollen, I’d love to garden full-time. I notice lots of ads in FaceBook Marketplace for local plants. I think I’d start with something similar. If you propagate plants, plant seeds, and watch your new plants grow, you can have a garden business. How big a business depends entirely on your goals.

Summer is Singing With Joy Free Printable

I spent most of Sunday playing with graphics. I re-did the email subscriber’s page full of graphics, and then I made a floral printable of a beautiful saying for summer: Summer is Singing With Joy. Everything is green, the sky is blue, and the white clouds are puffy. You probably have noticed in my posts that I love flowers. I kind of went overboard with the flowers circling the saying. I’m not going to apologize as I like it. I hope you like it too. Summer is Singing With Joy is sized 8″ x 10″.

Crock Pot Peach Cobbler

If you’ve read many of my recipes, you know how much I love a slow cooker. Put food on to cook while you do something else. Today’s recipe is for the summer favorite, peach cobbler, made in a crock pot. On hot summer days, you don’t need to turn on the oven to enjoy a fresh homemade dessert. I love peach season, but you can eat peach cobbler year round. Fresh or frozen sliced peaches, a little sugar, spices, and biscuit dough makes a traditional southern peach cobbler. There is no cake mix in this recipe. I prefer to know all the ingredients used and avoid chemicals. For gluten-free, use your favorite gluten-free flour. For vegan, use Earth Balance margarine sticks.

Frangipani on a Summer Day

Frangipani, also known as plumeria, is a tree best known for its fragrant, five-petal flowers that are used to make Hawaiian leis. Native to tropical climates, frangipani is a wonderful tree in the Southern garden. Frangipani is an easy-to-grow tropical tree that flowers from April through November.

When I lived at my house, I always had at least one frangipani tree. Below is one of last year’s photos taken in the front yard.
