Views of a Halo Cloud
On December 1st, a beautiful ‘Halo cloud” was seen over central Florida. According to The National Weather Service, “A halo is a ring or light that forms around the sun or moon as the sun or moon light refracts off ice crystals present in a thin veil of cirrus clouds. The halo is usually seen as a bright, white ring although sometimes it can have color.”

November Skies in Central Florida
November brought the beginning of the best time of the year here in Central Florida. It’s a pleasant 70 degrees F when I go outside at 8 am. Most days are intense blue skies with puffy white clouds. We’re officially winding down the hurricane season, but I still pay attention to the weather to know what’s happening. We’re expecting a cooler front to come from the north this next week. I don’t mind. Most of you who live in 4 season areas would think our cooler weather is a laugh.

Hurricane Has Gone & I’m Feeling Better
For the last week I have been fighting an upper respiratory infection. Fall is the time for weed pollen and this year has caused lots of problems for me. Now I’ve finished my antibiotic and have few coughs now.
Of course, this week was also a hurricane watch. I hope everyone in the path of the storm is well. I’ve been saying prayers for all of us. I’m so glad I made the decision to move inland. The pollen is worse, but the storms are a little better. Being on the 2nd floor of a 3 story building also has its advantages. I’m not going to flood. The only thing I could lose would be my car. My neighbor and I were talking about it pre-storm. He and I agree that other than loss of power, losing our cars were also a possibility. I’m glad to report, I did not lose power or my car. I just watched lots of rain for 2 days. I listened to a window in my laundry room flap in the wind until 2 am on Thursday early hours. I have a project now to replace that old window this spring. It drove me crazy.

A Day of Puffy Clouds
I’d like to thank all my readers who sent messages of concern last week when the hurricane blew by Florida. I sincerely appreciate your support. As expected here in central Florida away from the coast, we had a tropical storm warning (not a hurricane warning), rain, and wind. Yes, other areas were not so lucky. Tampa had extensive flooding and property destruction.
The next day was a regular sunny day with blue skies and puffy white clouds. I hope you enjoy the beautiful day I’m sharing. I wish you all beautiful days where you live.

Trees & Sky Views in September
Hurricane Helene is forecast to land in the big bend of Florida (the curve in the shape of the state) Thursday evening which is today. I’m writing this on Wednesday. Since my move to a more central location in the state, I no longer worry about being where the storms land. I will get wind and rain but less fierce, and my county is under a tropical storm warning. The worse that can happen is possible loss of power for a while, but I don’t really expect that to happen either.
