AI-Generated Art by CharcoalDrawing on Pixabay

I was enjoying looking at illustrations on Pixabay.com a few days ago. It’s website with free download of photos and illustrations. Many of the “users” (I think of them as artists) are very talented. I came upon 11 drawings by an artist who goes by the name, charcoaldrawing. The illustrations are all ai-generated animals. I personally have not tried using ai to generate illustrations or even writing. At this time, it makes me wonder how much I see on TV, magazines, online, etc. is generated on a computer. If you are an artist and draw or paint, I call your products real. It’s just how my old mind works. I know drawing on a computer also takes skill, but now add programs that invent a product too.

Ai-generated or not, I do like most of the graphics. The 11 ai-generated illustrations included: two of a polar fox in the snow,

two of snowy owl,

two of monkeys (sitting in water, very strange to me),

three of ancient mammoths (hairy ancesters of modern elephants),

and two of a stag standing in the snow.

I must admit that I have favorites. As I’ve previously shared, I am fond of foxes. I love their pointy faces. It doesn’t matter if they are reddish or snowy white. I also love owls of all kinds. Their faces fascinate me; I believe it’s the eyes. If you are interested in downloading any these graphics click the link for charcoaldrawing, and choose the graphic and size desired to download. I think they would be great on sweatshirts today with all the cold weather here in Florida.

I am wishing you cozy throws and warm homes during these freezing times. I’m living in sweat shirts & pants!

  1. It truly is scary how hard it is to distinguish between real and AI. Facebook can particularly take you in. I do use ChatGPT for translation – it’s an excellent tool for that.

  2. It is amazing what AI can do. I use it to create header photos for blog posts now because I was sick of not being able to find the right sort of image I wanted off sites like Pixabay.
The pictures are beautiful but it is hard to tell what is real and what is AI now. The monkey’s in the water are strange, you don’t expect to see them in water, how odd.

    1. Why would monkeys sit in water? 2nd problem is they look cold. I’ve never heard of monkeys living in cold regions. I think ai created a totally unreal scene for monkeys.

  3. These are all incredibly beautiful. If you are using AI as a tool to aid you in your creativity it is fine but those who are creating these fake images with misinformation are just wrong.

  4. I loved all these AI drawings. AI is a double-edged sword, great for finding out about illnesses and other information, with questions to ask the doctor we’ve found, but I remember listening to someone the other day, that it’s going to make our brains lazy. Not sure where I am on this and I do feel the concern of all those people who will be affected in a negative way. I’m afraid the horse has bolted however. These ones you have shared are really amazing and I have put together a few things when I have needed to illustrate something I can’t find otherwise. I have enjoyed reading everyone’s take on this and read Kim’s comment about monkeys sitting in the water. The Japanese macaque monkeys have learned to use the hot springs in the wintertime to keep warm. This place has been on my dream list to for years. I now content myself watching nature shows these days. Great post Carol!

  5. These illustrations are really beautiful!
AI makes amazing images, but I still think there’s something special about art made by hand.
The foxes and owls are my favorites.

    1. I agree with everything you said. Hand crafted is best but ai can be beautiful. Also foxes and owls always win my heart.

  6. I know next to nothing about AI’s capabilities. I mean, I use my screen reader’s built-in image description tool, which is AI-based, to describe photos I see on the Internet and have given ChatGPT a handful of prompts but always struggled with it. I think AI can definitely have its ups but it can also have major downsides. Btw, define “cold in Florida” for me. 😉 #MMBC

    1. Central Florida features a subtropical climate with a comfortable average annual temperature of approximately \(72^{\circ }\text{F}\) (\(22^{\circ }\text{C}\)). Summers (June-September) are hot and humid with daily highs in the low 90s°F (\(32\text{–}34^{\circ }\text{C}\)), while winters (December-February) are mild, with highs in the low 70s°F (\(21\text{–}23^{\circ }\text{C}\)) and lows occasionally dropping to the 40s or 50s°F (\(4\text{–}15^{\circ }\text{C}\)). This coming week the US will have a major snow storm going across the country. It could bring temperatures down to freezing or below. People rainsed in a subtropical or tropical climate may not have experience dealing with cold and do not know how to handle snow. No snow tires and no experience driving in ice and snow. Even when you’ve lived up north like I have, your body adapts to higher temperatures and humidity. When it drops down to the 40’s or below, I am freezing. I don’t have a large cold weather wardrobe either.

  7. It is amazing just what AI is capable of. I do love the images you shared, especially of the owl. I love all breeds of owl. We have quite a few in the trees around our home at night.
    Stay warm!

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
