Fire in Heaven, January 2nd Sunset Southwest Florida

On January 2, 2026, on the southwest coast of Florida, the sunset skies were amazing. Matt Dewitt Wink Weatherman shared multiple photos from viewers around Fort Myers on Facebook. It was a Fire in Heaven evening. Enjoy!

  1. Oh wow, you were not kidding. Those were once in a lifetime opportunities and looks like a lot of people took advantage of conditions and posted some amazing photos. I can tell that Florida peeps are ahead of almost everyone else on their skies.

    1. I think a lot of folks moved to their location for the sunsets. Lots of places in Florida have spots where people gather to watch sun go down.

  2. Oh my, you’ve collected some spectacular pictures of the sky. We’ve boated in Cape Coral, Ft Myers and even LaBelle, and got some good photos, but nothing like these!

    1. I certainly haven’t taken gorgeous photography like these. I couldn’t see these gems and not share them. Florida skies are amazing in all it’s variations.

  3. WOW! We used to see sunsets similar when we were at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument as NPS volunteers in Arizona right next to the Mexican boarder. But Florida does have them beat, at least when these were taken. Have a great week ahead, visiting again from #MMBC

    1. I agree Florida has fantastic sunsets. The colors are due to moisture in the atmosphere and Florida usually has moisture in the air.

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
