Welcome January 2026! Good-bye 2025

It’s a new year, and I’m happy to greet it. As I mentioned in one of my last posts in December, I realize everyday that I am feeling happier and healthier with each day. My move in January 2024 pretty much wasted me for over a year. Moving by myself at 75 was too much. If I had to ever do it again, someone else has to be doing the arranging, packing, and moving. Not me! Of course, I said that when I moved to my house back in 2010. LOL

Today I’m doing a look back at last year with thoughts for the future. In 2025, the blog had over 102.6K visitors. I’m thrilled and thankful!

The top 10 posts visited last year:

10. Fast & Filling Meals (June 14, 2022)

9. Home Page (latests posts)

8. Green Avocado Spinach Smoothie (April 29, 2024)

7. Sweet Potato Apple Cranberry Bake (November 2, 2020)

6. Summer Squash Quiche With Thyme (June 26, 2017)

5. A Fast Meal of Linguine With Red Clam Sauce (February 26, 2023)

4. Easy Cucumber & Onion Salad (June 21, 2021)

3. All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten (December 8, 2018)

2. Roasted Potatoes & Spinach (March 4, 2024)

#1. Cheesy Broccoli Potato Bake (September 6, 2021)

I thank everyone who drops by and especially those of you who give me feedback. I must admit I usually write for myself, but that seems to be ok. I’m not that original, which is another way of saying a lot of us are thinking about the same things.

The future is the question. I’m running out of recipes, and I’m tired of them. You probably noticed that 8 of the top 10 posts of all time are recipes. I appreciate that. If I find something really good to fix and eat, I, of course, will share it.

Sometimes, I’m inspired by a thought, something I read, or something visual I’ve watched. I am now in the position where I am more fluid. Like many bloggers, I also share photos of what I see. I’m thinking that you will see more of that plus a few fun posts from photos and memes I see that make me laugh. I do believe the world needs more humor, laughter, and, as always, kindness.

During January, I will also be looking back at all the posts I’ve done. If it’s not a great post, and nobody goes to see it, I might decide to delete it. Do you have any idea how many photos I’ve uploaded over the years? That has to slow the blog down. Let’s face it, lots of my photos are pretty ordinary.

I’m happy you stuck around long enough to finish this babbling discourse. God bless all of you. Thanks for being my online friends!

Carol

  1. Happy 2026! 102.6K visitors is very impressive! You have shared some wonderful recipes over the years, but you should feel comfortable sharing thoughts or whatever you would like.
Your blog loads perfectly fast for me. I don’t think your photos are slowing it down, so no need to delete anything.

    1. Thanks Lisa. It really helps to have someone give me good feedback. I hope you have a wonderful January.

  2. Happy and Healthy 2026, Carol! I am not far behind you in age and I know the big act of downsizing will have to happen one day. My goal for this upcoming year is to begin to purge and sell or give away the things I no longer need or use.

    1. That is a hard time but I know you can do it. Try one area at a time. Kitchen? Bedroom closet? Clothes? Just don’t try to do it all at once. Do a little at a time for the next few years. Thanks for your comment!

  3. Carol, I am glad you are feeling better! Write for yourself, the words always ring true and often there are many who need to read them, if you doubt, look at your visitor count! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead, and do share everything that tickles your fancy!

    1. Melynda, you are so sweet, and I must admit your words do feed my soul. Do you ever sometimes wonder “Is anyone really listening?” I’m going through a time of change and it makes me feel uncertain and insecure. I just pray it leads to leads to a good place. Happy 2026!

  4. Phew, yes, moving is exhausting! I’m glad you’re feeling better and better though. I absolutely think the world needs more smiles, laughter, and lighthearted fun stuff to share.

  5. First of all,, I’ve enjoyed this look back. And the blue-toned graphics you chose may be some of my favorites. I remember many of these posts and have made that cucumber/onion salad. Yum! I hope you don’t delete your old posts, even if they didn’t “perform” well. You never know when someone will look back and rediscover something!

    1. Thanks for the feedback. I do count on you telling me what you think. You’re one of my favorite online friends!

  6. Happy New Year!
I think moving by yourself at any age is hard work and stressful!
That is a fab round up of posts, I think I have read them all.
Wishing you all the best for 2026.

  7. Happy New Year Carol. I really enjoyed looking at some of your top posts from over the years.
You are right about the world needing more humour, laughter and kindness and I’m sure your future posts will bring all of that and more.
