My nephew, James, and his wife, Heather, are animal people. They always have at least one pet but usually more. I believe Heather had her cat, Charlotte, before their marriage. For many years, Charlotte was a beloved lap cat who brightened their days.

Heather posted a sad farewell to her:
Charlotte was the coolest cat ever. Thank you for letting us be your people. Rest well. .

About 14 years ago, they got a young rescue dog who had been abused as a puppy. Lola the dog had spent her early life always in a small cage. (Lola named for old classic by Derek and the Dominos. My nephew names animals from old classic rock.) Their patience in working with her was remarkable as they introduced her to grass and taught her to go outside. She was terrified of the green stuff. After several years with them, she trusted them and loved to do zoomies in the backyard in the summer. She loved to go camping with them too.
The beginning of August Lola the dog died. They decided to not get another dog for a while, but rescued a small kitten. He was named Bennie as in Bennie & The Jets (Elton John).

Heather is kept busy with Benny’s mischief and shares his actions with posts about “Bad” Bennie. I think she loves him more for his mischief; he is just what she needs right now. Today we welcome little Bennie.

Welcome to the family, little Bennie!

Bennie is a sweetheart! Well done to your nephew and his wife for adopting rescue pets. We are in the middle of looking after my eldest son’s dog at the moment, while he and his partner are on holiday. He is a puppy and a handful!
Babies of all species can get into trouble so easily!
Bennie looks to be a sweetie! I still remember the tabby cat – Tammy – I had as a child. So cuddly! Visiting today via @MMBC
Oh those kitten days! I am going on 4 years since I had to put my best friend down. It is tough loosing a pet, no matter how it happens. They will have many happy days ahead! Thanks for sharing Bad Bennie, I am getting closer to being able to consider another pet. #MMBC
Love to read about sweet Bennie. 🐈 Such an amazing Story. Thank you for sharing.
Greetings by Heidrun ❤️
Baby cats are the BEST!
Charlotte does seem like such a lovely cat and Lola sounded like such a sweetheart.
Aww! Bennie is just adorable, he looks like such a character!
I’m so sorry your nephew and his wife lost their beloved pets, but so pleased that Bennie has now joined them! The photographs are adorable, Carol. Thank you so much for sharing them!
Thanks again for sharing the story on Facebook. Have a great week.
So sad to hear about the loss of Lola and Charlotte. Benny is adorable, she is one lucky cat, to have found a home so full of love.
Oh, it’s so hard to say farewell to a beloved pet. But when you get one that makes you laugh (maybe scream a little!) — well, that’s great. And Bennie has one of the cutest cat faces I’ve ever seen, full of curiosity and mischief. A real cutie. (The “bad” will ease in time!)
Heather doesn’t really think he’s bad – she’s love him. Happy Tuesday!
…Bennie wil be a handful!
So sorry for their losses. Benny is VERY cute!!!
I love cats and I know how difficult it is to say goodbye to a beloved cat. Bennie is adorable and looks very smart and frisky! I’m sure he will give your nephew and family lots of love!
Awwww Bennie is soooo cute! He makes me smile. I love the photos. He seems quite adventurous!
Welcome Bennie! what a gorgeous little boy.
It sounds like Charlotte and Lola had wonderful lives full of love and attention.
They did indeed.
Bennie is adorable! So glad they adopted Bennie. I am sure he went a long way to fill the void. Losing beloved fur-family leaves a big hole to fill. Bennie look up to the task. Welcome to the family Bennie.
Awww what a gorgeous little kitten, Welcome Bennie. I love how kittens think they can fit anywhere. Saying that my two love a box and will try and fit in one no matter how small. I found my adult cat trying to get into a tissue box only the other week!
Kittens bring so much joy and these pics are adorable. I was never a cat lover until we had a grand-cat…
Sending love and hugs to James and Heather on the loss of Charlotte and Lola. I know how they feel, having just lost my Bruce. It is heartbreaking.
Bennie is just adorable. I’m sure he will bring them both lots of love and fun times ahead. 💕
