For patriotic holidays, a simple summer fruit salad of red and blue fruit like strawberries or watermelon with blue berries or black berries is very popular. Add bananas and you have red, white, and blue. Toss with a honey lime dressing and it’s so good. The lime juice keeps the banana slices from turning brown. It’s so easy to make that it’s hard to call it a recipe. It’s very visually appealing for Memorial Day or 4th of July.

I’m using white bowls with patriotic paper napkins. If you have red or deep blue bowls, they would also work well. For the red fruit, you can also use raspberries or cubes of watermelon. For the blue fruit, you could also use blackberries.

This looks delicious! I like the addition of honey, but anything with blueberries in sounds good to me!
My favorite fruits!
I love the whole red white and blue theme! Plus that combo would be delicious!
I would go for strawberries, blackberries and bananas. I am not American but it sounds like a good mix!
You’re right – it’s great for any country if you love berries like I do.
You can never go wrong with a fruit bowl. This looks great!
You’re right! Summertime is the perfect time for fresh fruit. I happen to love berries and it’s a no-brainer to make a colorful bowl for 4th of July. Happy Monday!
Easy, peasy and great, esp. if one loves fruit….
This looks delicious and so pretty for a July 4th salad. Visiting from Will Blog for Comments.

Thanks for the visit Margaret.
…looks refreshing!
I love fresh fruit in the summer (though I typically won’t use bananas since I don’t like them)… but I do find star fruit is a fun substitute!
Star fruit does have a nice flavor – very creative!
Looks great.
Not only is it very pretty and a great addition to any 4th of July buffet, it looks delicious. Happy week to you Carol 🙂
