Azaleas are native to Asia, Europe, and North America and are flowering shrubs within the Rhododendron genus. They are known for their vibrant blooms in spring and some varieties reblooming in fall. They come in both evergreen and deciduous forms. They generally thrive in USDA hardiness zones 5 to 9. Some varieties are even cold-hardy enough to survive in zone 4. However, the ideal growing conditions include well-draining soil, partial shade, and a slightly acidic pH.
The weather here in central Florida can change overnight. We had beautiful, warm days at the beginning of the month with highs in the 90’s for several days. Then a front moved in from the north with cooler temperatures and rain.

Since then our highs have been more in the low 80’s. As usual, we nearly always have beautiful, blue skies. Although we may have a darker period around a rainstorm, it doesn’t ususually last long.

I’ve previously shared a few photos of azaleas in the condo courtyard, but today I’m sharing several large, beautiful bushes of azaleas I found here in Lakeland (zone 9B). They are gorgeous!

I hope you’re have a beautiful spring wherever you are.

Wow, those pinks & reads are so beautiful!
I love your azaleas. Azaleas are some of the most beautiful blooms around. The homes in the older parts of Tulsa have extravagant azalea displays and I love driving around looking at them.
Oh those are gorgeous! I have the lighter/bright pink colored ones in our yard and I’m finally just starting to see some buds and growth on it. I can’t wait for it to start blooming.
