Getting Ready for Easter

I’ve been enjoying a central Florida spring for last few months. In another two weeks, it will be Easter. My preparation for spring and Easter is simple since I don’t live close to my family. In the past, I was one of the homes where we celebrated holidays. Of course, I lived in Michigan then. BRrrr! It was cold. I’ve lived in Florida off and on since I was in my 20’s and now, I’m retired. I’m really happier in the warmer climate.

Today I’m sharing my new updated living area. A few months ago, I sold my sofa. My sitting area is very small. The sofa almost filled the width of the wall, plus it wasn’t really comfortable for my nephew. No, he never complained. When I called him and said I was getting a new loveseat. He told me I didn’t have to do that, but I couldn’t stand watching him try to get comfortable on the old sofa. He looked uncomfortable his whole visit. The man takes after my brother and is tall. James is about 6′ 4″ or so. His younger brother is about 6′ 7″. Anyway I now have a love seat that is two recliners. It’s a neutral color that goes well in the space. I think it will be more comfortable for him and his wife.

The love seat has my new bunny pillow for spring on it.

I also added a new print on the side wall with a scene of a lovely bird in the water. It reminds me of Florida. Besides the bird, I bought a print of a fox in the forest. They’re not expensive, and unlike my hand painted floral arrangement over the loveseat, I might tire of it and replace it in 10 years. I’ve had the original painting of the flowers for 25 years, and I always put it in my living space as a focal point. It has all my happy colors like the ocean. On the TV, I am using the tulip photo as my spring background art when not watching television.

Over by the entry, I hung a painting by my father. His hobby was art, and each of us three kids got some of his paintings. My small painting was completed within a year or two of our moving from Alabama to Tennessee. I was 5 years old when we moved. This painting always hung in the dining area when I was growing up.

On my side table below the painting, I have artificial flowers and of course, a bunny.

On the edge of the dining room is my grandmother’s side table with a tray of flowers and a ginger jar.

On the wall is my metal wall art by a south Florida artist of a Florida water bird. I bought that almost 30 years ago. I don’t know why I never paired it with the ginger jar before.

The dining table has small vase of tulips with a white bunny.

Several of my friends have been baking for the holiday. German Chocolate cake anyone? I love the pecans on top.

Another friend had an Easter party for her grandkids. I love the cake. It looks like it could be simple to decorate if you find chocolate Easter candy in shapes you like.

Last, but not least, my friend, Vickie, made a lovely spring centerpiece.

I hope you are enjoying spring. For those who celebrate Easter, I wish you a blessed holiday season. Thanks for the visit!
