A Visit to Jamestowne, Virginia

My nephew, James, and his wife, Heather, spent a long weekend in Virginia for Thanksgiving. As I shared on Monday, they first visited Colonial Williamsburg. Then they went to visit historic Jamestowne, Virginia.

Jamestowne was founded on May 13, 1607. It was the first permanent English settlement in America. It saw the beginning of many of our nation’s institutions, including representative government. Today all of Jamestowne Island is part of Colonial National Historical Park.

I was raised in Tennessee but have lived in Florida for many years. Love my small home in the Tampa Bay area and its developing garden. My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. I was to historic Jamestown some 25 years ago. I don’t think it was part of a historic park then-there was a lot of archeological research being done when we visited. The statue overlooking the water (which I don’t remember, either), I assume, is pointing back towards England. Alana ramblinwitham

  2. This looks so fun! My wife and I love to explore historical cities like Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg. We hope to be able to take a trip back there soon once life starts to calm down again after the holidays. Thanks for sharing!

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
