Trees & Sky Views in September

Hurricane Helene is forecast to land in the big bend of Florida (the curve in the shape of the state) Thursday evening which is today. I’m writing this on Wednesday. Since my move to a more central location in the state, I no longer worry about being where the storms land. I will get wind and rain but less fierce, and my county is under a tropical storm warning. The worse that can happen is possible loss of power for a while, but I don’t really expect that to happen either.

Today’s photos are more from the condominium grounds with a viewpoint on the building next door. The grounds are kept beautifully with grass cutting weekly. Grass grows year round in Florida, although very slowly in the winter. Between my building and the next is a nice walkway and lots of trees. Florida’s blue skies are really the norm. I hope you enjoy the photos. Unlike northern regions, you don’t see changing colors of leaves here. Some trees will lose their leaves in the next few months, but it isn’t colorful.

    1. It is much safer and I really am not worried about Helene. If I were in my house, I would have sandbags around it and expect flooding. Have a safe and wonderful trip!

  1. From what we see way off here in Oregon, it does look like you’ll be fine — we think/hope Fort Myers will be also (this time). Still take care, it’s gonna rain everywhere there I think. Yes — Florida beautiful blue skies are the norm. Sallie (FullTime-Life)

  2. Those are lovely, well kept grounds. I would really appreciate them come January, living in New York State. When I moved to Tampa in 1974 my first apartment was in walking distance of Bay Shore Boulevard and I’ve also walked it more than once since I moved out of the Tampa area. Now I think of what Helene must have done to it and the beautiful neighborhoods along its length. Hurricane watches are scary and I know it must be a relief for you to be more sheltered (and safe) from those storms. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. That area of Tampa flooded badly. It always does when there is heavy rain. Folkw over there seem resilant, but I would tire of the hassle.

  3. I hope that you weathered the storm ok and did not lose power. Your grounds are beautiful and very well kept. Sounds like it was a good move for you.

  4. It is a nice place to stay while you weather the storm from a distance. I do hope you don’t come back to too much damage. My thoughts are with you.

  5. Lovely tree and sky photos ~ be safe and dry ~ hugs,

  6. What a beautiful green space. For me living in a state with a change of seasons, it’s nice to have the seasons, but I really miss the green in winter when all I see is dead ugly brown for so many months.

  7. Looks like a great place to live Carol, the grounds are beautiful! I hope all is well with you down there. I have been paying attention to the news and it’s very sad what people are going through. These hurricanes are horrendous. Stay safe and I hope your weekend is going well.

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
