My House Staged To Sell

This last year has been a stressful one with my physical problems due to neck, surgery, and trying to cope with the sharp rise in expenses in the last few years. After much deliberation, I’ve decided to sell my home and buy a condo. I’m really tired of dealing with maintenance issues for the house. For example, I’ve gone through 3 lawn guys in 4 years. Here in Florida, lawn work is year round. Consequently, I have worked on my home for the last few months in preparation of listing it for sale. Last week a professional photographer and my real estate agent came to take photographs for the listing. Today’s photos are from that visit and are courtesy of the Dorwin Team, Peter & Allison Dorwin.

The first photo in the photo above and below is quite beautiful, and I can guarantee there was manipulation in the sky and colorings. The professional photographer is quite skilled.

This second photo of the front of the house is more accurate in colors. Notice how dry the lawn is. We’re 2 months into our dry season, and we haven’t had rain in 10 days.

Now let’s enter the house. My home is small with an open area for living, dining, and cooking. It is in a U shape.

From front door to sofa is first leg of U.

Bottom leg is from sofa across to table.

The third leg is from the table to the stove.

The real estate market has a low inventory, but listings are not selling quickly. Say a little prayer for me please.

  1. The photos are wonderful and I’m sure it won’t stay on the market long. But how do you live and keep it so tidy when people will be coming to see?!!! I know that would be my biggest challenge. It’s lovely seeing the whole of your home after seeing so many lovely vignettes over the years!

  2. You have a really beautiful house and I can tell that you must have put a lot of works in this lovely home. I love that master bedroom and the U-shaped living area. Hope that you find someone who would appreciate it.

  3. Your home looks very comfortable and well taken care of, Carol. I wish you much success in selling it. I know the high interest rate a deterrent right now for many home buyers, but a nice ranch style home in your area will be an attraction for a buyer. My husband and I know we will have to downsize someday and I’m not looking forward to all the work that goes into that!

  4. Awesome looking house and wonderful pictures. By the looks I am sure that you will sell in record time. All the best
I visited you via Little Things Thursday!
I linked up this week with = 30+31. Hope you will join us M-S SeniorSalonPitStop and W-S #WordlessWednesday. You will find both under BLOGGING.

  5. Conserving water and having what we call “golden lawns” is a badge of honour in my neck of the woods. Such a lovely home. It will likely be sold rather quickly. 🙂

  6. Your house is beautiful and very well put together. I’m sure it will sell quickly at a good price for you.

We wish my MIL would move into a condo for the same reasons you wrote. High maintenance costs, especially the yard. Oh well, she doesn’t listen to us.

    1. It’s a decision that a person has to make himself; 2 years ago a friend tried to convince me. I wasn’t ready and resented her interference

  7. Cute home. I agree with you about the lawn upkeep. I have a small house in the Tampa Bay area, and my husband complains about the lawn/yardwork all the time. But I do like some space to do some gardening.
    Good luck!

  8. What a difficult decision! It looks like a beautiful home, and there’s a lot to be said about the advantages of condo living. Good luck with your sale!

  9. It looks very nice. Around here houses aren’t staged, and the photos are just terrible! Usually the toilets are open, and there are dishes and food on kitchen counters and in sinks. I don’t know why. The photos of the house I bought, and live in now, were so cluttered (and the toilet was open!). Even when visiting it there was one room used for storage we couldn’t really get into.

    1. there are some like that too here – I spent lots of timw working on it – my agent only uses professional photographer

  10. It is a beautiful home Carol, sending up my prayers, although I would think someone would snap this up quickly. All fingers crossed and showering you with good luck also.

  11. A beautiful little home. I pray you will sell it soon. I know it’s so difficult to maintain a stand alone home and a condo will be much easier for you.

  12. It’s been staged well – beautiful interior photos. Your photos, though, make me dread the day I need to downsize and sell. I think you are making the right decision and wish you the best. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. thanks Alana – when you think you might want to sell in a few YEARS, decide if you have too much furniture – I started making changes about 2 to 3 years ago – small steps – it didn’t get over whelming until I decided now is the time and had still soooo much to review and eliminate

  13. I’m sorry that you’ve found it challenging to maintain your home post surgery. You’ve been through such a lot, but you wouldn’t tell by the pics though. Your home is beautiful and I think you have done really well with the upkeep of it.
I hope you get a super quick sale so that you can start an exciting new chapter in your new home. Onwards and upwards!

    1. I’ve been better since the April surgery but I just don’t want so much on my plate anymore. I’ve gone through 3 yard guys in 4 years. You need a yard guy year round in Florida. Someone is interested and waiting from financing approval before putting in an offer. If that comes this week, I already know a condo I’m interested in seeing. I’m crossing my fingers!

  14. What a gorgeous home. I keep hearing how homes in Florida are in high demand because everyone wants to live there. I’m sure it will sell quickly!

  15. You have a lovely home and the pictures are really nice. I do see what you mean about the grass though. It’s not really a problem we have over here in the UK it rains a lot! I had to look up what a Condo was, I guess it would be nice for you not to have to deal with everything that comes with owning a home and have shared responsibility and costs, (if I’ve got this right) Good luck with the sale. I’d be very happy with such a lovely home.

    1. good luck with your move and thanks for the good wishes – I’m wishing us both a great 2024 in our new homes.

  16. Wonderful photos! I can see that you’ve put a lot of hard work into preparing your home for sale. I hope you’re able to find the perfect buyer and sell your home quickly and for a good price. In the meantime, I’m sending you positive vibes and hoping for the best.

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
