As usual for August in central Florida, we’ve had rain and some storms in late afternoons daily for several weeks. Moisture builds up in the air over the Gulf of Mexico, and in the afternoon it moves east onto land.
Sometimes it gets in the way of things you want to do in the afternoon. Most people I know carry an umbrella in the car because you never know.
My friend Carolyn had a birthday last week. Her husband surprised her with a beautiful bouquet.

…a nice surprise!
Those are some phenomenal clouds! Definitely an umbrella day!
Wow, those storm clouds look nasty, Carol! We are in a dry period right now. Very hot and in the 90’s. The flower arrangement is beautiful! Hope you are well.
The clouds are gorgeous. I love a summer rain. Just as long as there is no damage to people’s property or to people, I could sit and watch a summer rain for hours. It is so relaxing. Happy belated birthday to your friend. Her flowers are gorgeous. Thanks for sharing at #aclwcc.
The birthday bouquet looks really beautiful. Happy belated Birthday, Carolyn.
That birthday bouquet is so pretty! We always associate freak afternoon storms with Florida; we got caught in more than one downpour on various trips. Luckily they were never very harmful but we have some great family stories from them.
That sky certainly does look dark and threatening. Beautiful bouquet!
Great clouds. We do get a lot of rain this time of year.
Gorgeous sky and floral photos ~ lovely bouqet ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Your photos of the approaching storm are incredible. A lot of drama going on in those skies Carol. Happy Birthday to Carolyn and that is a gorgeous bouqet her husband gave her. Your photos show them beautifully. Thanks for the share Carol, have a happy rest of the week.
Happy Friday Denise!
As I said in another blog, I missed the daily afternoon rains in Asia. BTW, I live in California and I carry an umbrella in the car just in case.
Worth a Thousand Words
you’re a smart lady to carry an umbrella
What gorgeous sunflowers, Carol! Carolynn is a lucky lady! Those storm photos are quite spectacular too.
Dear Carol,
With such a gloomy sky, the sight of the sunflower is all the more beneficial!
All the best from Austria – have a good time!

The dark skies already spoke when I saw the photos. Didn’t look very nice. But the bouquet your friend received from her husband was really beautiful and the birthday must have been very cozy too. Greetings Tine from the Netherlands, South Holland
The other night we had a vicious storm that went through the entire night from 10:00pm until 8:00am. The rain was heavy, loud thunder and scary lightning. Around our area and even in the Metro airport was flooded and planes were cancelled. Last night we had another bout of this rain, thunder & lightning. This is crazy.

Storms can be scary. Take care and stay safe.
Does this ever bring back memories from the two summers I lived in Tampa. Scary skies but nice bouquet. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com
Nice flowers!!
When I lived on the gulf coast, same thing in the summer, often. It would rain almost every afternoon. Everybody had an umbrella.
I like how you put the surprise gift of flowers for you friend in a collage. Sunflowers look so happy. Have a happy and healthy week end.
Lovely bouquet! The stormy skies are very dramatic.
It is amazing how the storms move in fast and furiously in Florida. That sky is really ominous looking. Lovely flowers!
Oh wow! That does look like a stormy sky and those flowers are beautiful. I do love sunflowers. x
Feliz cumpleaños a tu amiga. Y cuidate mucho.
That was a very dramatic stormy sky! I remember the lightning storms I experiences on trips to Florida–they were amazing! Happy birthday to your friend,
We do have bad ones sometimes.
The skies look so grey and dark but still beautiful. Hope the storm passed without any destruction.
That’s a beautiful bouquet.
We just had thunder and lightening but no damage. Have a great week.
Oh wow! That’s a powerfully angry looking sky!
