Easter’s right around the corner, so if you need something sweet and easy to make, turn refrigerated cinnamon roll dough into adorable bunnies. These sweet treats are perfect for Easter brunches, baby showers, parties, playdates, or your co-workers at the office.
I explored bunny cinnamon rolls online and found several ways to make them. A large number of bloggers used the bunny head with ears method. The most common approach I found is to lift the top layer of dough and form 2 ears. There is no cutting involved. What I didn’t like about this method was the need to check it mid-bake to reshape ears. Nope I don’t want to do that.
Pillsbury’s recipe for bunny cinnamon rolls requires you to use 4 of the 8 rolls in their refrigeratored cinnamons rolls for ears. You unroll the 4 rolls into strips and bend in the middle to form ears.
I liked that approach better than just bending the outer layer but then I found another approach that I like best. The object is to make a whole bunny with a side view. It involves a few cuts of dough but that can done quickly. In 30 minutes you have cinnamon bunny rolls.
How To Make Bunny
Separate cinnamon rolls & unroll each one. Cut the dough string in half.
Roll one half into a round circle for the body of the bunny. The second half should be cut into 2 pieces – 1/3 of the length and 2/3 of the length. Roll the 1/3 piece into a small round circle for the bunny’s tail.
Roll the 2/3 piece half way leaving a long straight end. That will be the bunny head with ears. Cut the long end in half and mold into ears from the head.
You’ll notice below that the body piece should be placed with the ending piece facing down to become legs.
Bake, cool, and ice cinnamon rolls. Use half a raisin for an eye. You can decorate each bunny or have the kids do it. You can use icing, candy, sprinkles or fruit like berries to decorate bunny or make a scene on the plate.

These are just the cutest, Carol. I might have to try this, even though we won’t be having the kids at breakfast. I’m not sure Rick would appreciate the prep but I just love these!
Such a fun and delicious creation! Absolutely perfect for the holiday!
Those are cute and sound delicious.
…sweet!
I wonder where I can buy cinnamon rolls here in the UK.? Maybe I’ll have to use some ingenuity as I love cinnamon, especially with apple.
maybe they call them something else in the UK – it’s a puffy pastry where dough is rolled out and rolled with cinnamon. Sometimes nuts are added in the roll also. After baking it’s iced with a simple white icing glaze.
I love cinnamon rolls. The bunnies are cute and adorable. I like the presentation of the bunny, and this is great as an easter treat!
