Roasted Onions

A simple baked onion has so much flavor. Today’s recipe is for easy roasted onions with delicious caramelized surfaces. Nearly all onions can be mellowed into sweetness by roasting. They are a perfect side with roasted meat and chicken.

Roasted Onions

Easy roasted onions are the perfect side for any meal.

Servings 8 onion halves

Ingredients

  • 4 medium onions
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • optional fresh herb for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 F
  • Peel onions and cut in half
  • Place onions in bowl
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Toss halves with oil
  • Place onions, cut-sides down, in a baking pan or sheet (or even a iron skillet)
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until onions are tender and cut surface is golden
  • Remove from oven and drizzle balsamic or apple cider vinegar on halves
  • Optional herb garnish
  • Serve warm

  1. I never tried roasting a whole onion like this. It looks like a nice side dish for a meat entrée.
    I hope you stay safe from the approaching storm/hurricane and thta it misses your area, Carol! Thus type of weather is always so worrisome.
