August Orchid Mania

Photos are courtesy of my friend Beverly in South Florida. I personally can not grow orchids. They always die. I do love orchids and enjoy flowers grown by friends.

Today I’m sharing four more photos from my friend Beverly. It is a blessing to see beautiful orchids growing in tropical Florida . One began to flower at the end of July and several others joined in in the last week. Beverly calls it her orchid mania. She has so many beautiful orchids. I hope you enjoy the exotic flowers.

I was raised in Tennessee but have lived in Florida for many years. Love my small home in the Tampa Bay area and its developing garden. My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. The orchids are beautiful. Living in Pennsylvania, we do not get to see them grow outside in gardens. I do not think that I’ve ever seen a red one. They do sell them in the stores here, but mostly in shades of whites and purples. thanks for sharing this Carol.

  2. Beverly’s orchids are just beautiful! Some people in our resort park (in Florida) grow them in their trees hanging baskets or just wired onto the branches) and they bloom beautifully during our winters there! I love seeing them — but I think your friend’s are lovelier — maybe because it is summer? Or because she has more of a green thumb! Eitiher way thanks to both of you for sharing.

    1. Beverly does have a green thumb for orchids and the on the lanai, in trees, hanging from the house, etc. Each one needs a different amount of light but they always bloom for her. She has something blooming almost every month of the year. She lives in Broward County – south Broward really.

  3. Your orchids are lovely. Luv the white ones best.
    Have a good week

    Much?love

  4. These orchids are so beautiful! Orchids hold a special place in my heart as they were my mum’s favourite flower.

  5. We have an orchid show in our area late each winter – needless to say, it’s indoors. It would be amazing to see orchids flowering outside. Enjoyed your friend’s photos.
