This post was originally shared on April 20, 2016. I was a new blogger and my photo composition wasn’t great. This is one of my all-time favorite bouquets. I purchased it at the farmer’s market. The amaryllis flowers are larger than the ones in my yard. I remember the petals looked like velvet. I’ve re-edited some photos, and I hope you enjoy a second view.
The beautiful red of amaryllis still fills yards in my area, bright red heads standing watch over gardens. I brought the colors in to the bedroom for a bouquet of colors – red amaryllis, snapdragons, and pink begonias.
This sweet bouquet is perfect for my bedroom and brings me great joy.
The beautiful red amaryllis seems to last longer cut and in a vase than it does left on the stem in the yard.

How beautiful! Our amaryllis bloomed beautifully a few weeks ago and then we had a big hail storm that knocked all the blooms off. Right now it’s starting to bloom again so I’m thrilled. I’m happy to know the blooms do well in an arrangement.

That would be a favorite for me too Carol! What a wonderful combination. It’s a good idea to bring forward some of your favorite posts too … you have new readers and more knowledge of “how to blog”. (I am telling all this to myself as well …. after about 15 years of blogging, I could definitely do some look back at old favoroite posts. And I would definitely have to “fix” them as I had little idea of what I was doing back then.)
I started blogging in mid 2016 but the first posts were so bad I have deleted most. The “white page” staring at me was challenging at the beginning and I was very timid to express myself. My first photos were not great – I had to get another camera. I’m not consistently good even now and do not have the equipment many bloggers have. Besides loving flowers, they don’t fly or run away?! ha Sometimes I have taken 20 photos, edited them, was not happy, and then did another 20. Delete, delete, delete. LOL
I’ve never had much luck with amaryllis for some reason – perhaps not the right exposure – but I do so love their vivid flowers. Thanks for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2022/05/gogh-if-you-can.html!

A lovely red. As you know, this flower is only a Christmas type flower for people like me living in the Northeast U.S., and that color would be so perfect for that season, too. Alana ramblinwitham
