Lamb Spring Veggie Platter

I enjoy food art. Spring and Easter are a perfect time to make cute food to celebrate. First I shared Tomato Tulips last month. Last week I shared 16 Ways to Make a Lamb Cake which really got me thinking about lambs and sheep. Today we’ll talk about a vegetable platter for all spring get-togethers with a cute lamb face for the veggie dip. I looked at lots of spring food art trays and platters online and then came up with my own twist. I started with my green crystal platter and some of my favorite vegetable finger foods with a container of hummus. You could use your favorite dip if it is light colored like onion dip.

I filled in most of the platter with cut vegetables. The amount used depends on the size of your platter. You can use your vegetable favorites. Be sure they are cut small for easy dipping. At the bottom of the platter I added fresh herbs to be grass below the lamb.

The object is to create a lamb’s face with the dip. I thought how popcorn would be perfect for wooly sheep. I smoothed the center of the dip for the face and mini-whipped the edges for wool. Black olives were used for eyes, nose, and mouth.

I placed popcorn around the container to make the lamb’s face. Then I added more below the face for the body. I filled in the platter with fresh veggies and black olives.

I suggest you have another tray of chips, crackers, or rolls and another bowl of dip if your group is very large.

Happy Spring!!

  1. Veggie plates are delicious. There is a lovely idea for easter. Thank you for sharing. We prefer Spinat by the way.

  2. That looks amazing, I would love to do something like this with my kids. They are not keen on olives but I’m sure we could substitute purple grapes and raisins for the sheep face. Oh, I really want to try now, thank you for the inspiration.

  3. Adorable! I think this is perfect for Easter as the lamb represents Jesus. Love it! If you want to keep everything on the dish a vegetable, you can use cauliflower. Thanks for sharing on Happiness is Homemade at LifeasaLEOWife.com. Hope to see you on Crafty Creators Link Party as well!
