Anthuriums are herbaceous epiphytes native to tropical America, a genus of more than 800 species found in the New World tropics from Mexico to northern Argentina and Uruguay.
Spectacular red spathes make Anthurium andreanum a popular houseplant. Most winters I have one to bring a bright spot of tropical beauty to my home. Today I’m sharing just a few photos of the pretty red spathes or “flowers”. The spathes can last more than a month.

Carol – I had one of these Anthuriums for four years, and it was glorious. It started to fade, and I let it go. How long do you find that they last? Thanks for linking to Mosaid Monday!
I can get over 2 years and then they get rather spindly and need to go in a huge pot. I have no room for that and let them go.

This is a beautiful flower, Carol! It is nice to have indoor flowers in winter.
I got one of these plants last year; it’s nice and green and healthy but it never “bloomed” again!
That is so sad. I wonder what is wrong with it. Is it close to a window to get filtered light?
