Your home is your haven, or at least it should be, so it should be the most peaceful place in your life. It is perfectly possible to make your home comfy, quiet, and as peaceful as you like.
Let’s look at simple actions that can help you achieve your peaceful haven.
Eliminate noise pollution
It’s hard to find peace when there is lots of excessive noise all around you. Although it is impossible to eliminate all unwanted sounds unless you live by yourself in a remote cabin in the woods, there are lots of things you can do to lower the noise pollution levels in your home.
If you can’t afford to add double or triple-glazed windows to keep traffic noise out, try using acoustic curtains or placing large pieces of furniture in front of the window to lower outside noise. For mechanical inside sounds, determine what is making the irritating noise. Appliances, heaters, fans, and even your MacBook. Check with manufacturers to find solutions for each item. To stop your MacBook or laptop from making an excessive amount of fan noise try using those solutions.
If a room is used as a playroom or music room, to absorb sound in a room try theses inexpensive tricks:
1 Move furniture against walls.
2 Move bookcases against walls.
3 Hang a tapestry or a quilt.
4 Hang heavy drapes over windows.
5 Cover the floor with thick rugs.
6 Add throw pillows to sofas.
7 Add seat and back cushions to chairs.
8 Add plants to your room.
Harness the power of plants
Houseplants have been proven by research to lower stress levels, eliminate impurities in the air, and aid in relaxation. They are also great at muffling sounds if you have a lot of them. If you want your home to be peaceful, add plants to your rooms to create a peaceful ambiance in your home.
Create a nook
If you can find a quiet corner somewhere, whether it be in the recess below the stairs or the unloved corner in the bedroom, you can turn it into a quiet nook where you can go to read or meditate or simply watch the world go by. All you need is a few cushions some lighting and maybe a shelf or two to hold your books and you can nestle in and enjoy a thoroughly relaxing time.

Make it comfy
Peaceful homes are comfortable homes, so invest in as many snuggly blankets, fluffy cushions and pillows, and furry rugs as you can and spread them liberally in any room you desire. When you always have something to snuggle up with it’s always easy to relax.
Add natural fragrance
Diffusing essential oils is a really good way to bring more calm into your day. Aromatherapy diffusers can be purchased very cheaply and they require only water and a few drops of essential oil to fill your whole home with a wonderful aroma. Choose oils like lavender and clary sage which are great for calming the mind and pretty soon you will find that it’s a lot easier for both your body and mind to wind down and enjoy the moment.
Have a dried bouquet of eucalyptus or lavender as part of your decor. Hang dried eucalyptus in the shower. Use bath salts with essential oils. Fresh flowers brighten your home and often add a happy scent.
Decide what your home needs to be more peaceful. Add layers of comfort for viewing, feeling, hearing, and smelling. You will get a lot more enjoyment from your home because it really will be a haven of peace and tranquility.

Fantastic ideas. I like plants and candles, they make me feel at peace but I love the idea of having a quiet nook. x
