Florida Skies

Winter is a time for cold, ice, snow, and often dark, gray skies for many people living in the north.  I grew up in Tennessee and moved to Florida in my 20’s to escape the gray.  Seasonal Affective Disorder hadn’t even been defined then as that happened in the next decade.  I just knew I was happy and more energetic in the Florida sun.

Even when a cold front comes down, unless it brings rain, we still have blue skies.  I hated January and February up north.  Now it’s my favorite time of year.

Wishing you a beautiful day.

I was raised in Tennessee but have lived in Florida for many years. Love my small home in the Tampa Bay area and its developing garden. My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. I hate January & February especially since I can’t go on my cruise. That one break that I always wanted….. my cruise, can’t do it anymore. Now I just sit & freeze.

    1. I’m not freezing but I’m not going anywhere really – the doctor’s, the supermarket, – that’s about it!

  2. What I loved about the West Coast of Florida the nearly two years I lived there were the blue skies year round. Here in New York State we had partly cloudy skies today because it was cold. Supposed to go below zero tonight. You wouldn’t want to be out there. Ah Florida…..

  3. What beautiful blue skies! We had a sky like this on New Year’s Day which was a lovely start to the year but we’ve just had cold and grey skies since :o(

  4. Hi there from your snowbird blog friend! We started traveling south (first by RV and then we bought the Canal Cottage here in Florida) partly to escape Oregon’s winter gray. So I know how you felt before you came here!! I assume your section of the state didn’t have any of the tornados Sunday ?? We are fine here but not everybody in Fort Myers area was as lucky.

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
