Adding Christmas

This last weekend I was working on my home rearranging art and adding Christmas decorations.  My favorite way to decorate for Christmas is with vignettes added to a room.  Let’s start with the dining room.  Last week I decorated the dining table with a poinsettia topper and my decorated Advent candleholder.  Today I’m sharing the updated picture ledge behind the table.

First I added my Flower Deer Holiday Print on the photo ledge.  It’s my favorite winter print and really could be the focus from November through February. A friend loves it so much that she says I should have it up in the dining room all year.  Then I added candlesticks and candles to each side.

The night before I had cut a bucket of greenery in the yard and let the branches soak in water overnight.  That morning I added branches to the picture ledge.  I really love adding greenery and that is one of my main decorating ideas this year. I used real and faux greenery.

In the corner I added a framed print, For Unto Us A Child Is Born, which I shared back in 2016.

On the door is a wooden Santa.

On the wall between the dining area and the living room I used the real greenery to make a tree.  I glued on small shells and a star fish at the top.  I’ve always wanted to make a shell tree.

Below the tree is a side table with a vignette of deer, beads, pine cones, and greenery.

Around the corner in the living room is a small side table dressed for the holidays with a poinsettia tablecloth and a snowman and snow child figurine with real greenery.

The futon is dressed with a throw and two Santa pillows. (I use pillow covers with a set of white pillow inserts.)

The top of Santa is one pillow with the word “Joy”.

The second pillow is the bottom of Santa with the greeting “Merry Christmas”.

On the side table to the left is a bouquet in a red vase with a sweet deer and pine cone trees.

My final Christmas vignette is more white and silver with blue.   Remember the Winter Wonderland Santa Table last year?  This year the blue Santa is on a table covered in white with a gray and silver sheer topper.  My deer in the woods print is in the background on the table. Santa, DIY silver cone Christmas trees, candles, and lots of gems from Dollar Tree decorate the table.

I had fun with adding pearls to lots of things this year.

  1. I love all your pretty touches! That deer print is perfect there and your table so pretty. But the thing that most captures my heart is your shell tree! What a clever idea to use the real greens and then glue on the shells. That’s pretty brilliant and I love how it looks. But then, it’s all lovely, Carol!

    1. You do say the sweetest things Jeanie. I’ve wanted to do a wall tree for several years and you know I love shells. I’ve been thinking of different ways to use greenery and I have some more ideas too.

  2. You have a wonderful touch with these Christmas ideas Carol. All I have left is trying to put out my Advent scene. Because it’s large, I have to figure out where to put it out. Since we are in thee new place, the room isn’t as large as like our large home was.

    1. Maybe you can re-arrange your Advent scene to fit your room. I feel you pain but don’t stop feeling good about the holidays!

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
