Meteor Crater Arizona

My nephew James and his wife Heather went on vacation in June.   This is the seventh post from their vacation photos. Thank you James!

  Meteor Crater Arizona

Over 50,000 years ago space and earth came together when a huge iron-nickel meteorite, approximately 150 feet wide and weighing several hundred thousand tons, impacted an area outside of Flagstaff, Arizona, with a force 150 times greater than an atomic bomb.

Today we’ll visit Meteor Crater Arizona to see the unearthly impact site of an ancient iron-nickel meteorite.

  1. This is in my backyard. I haven’t visited in years. I hope everyone enjoyed it and the Grand Canyon. You have to visit Sedona, Arizona. It’s Gorgeous.

  2. It really does make you think about the power of nature. Did you ever tell us where James and his wife are from? They sure had a great vacation and definitely take wonderful pictures.

    1. They live in the greater Detroit area of Michigan and are both teachers. They flew to Las Vegas and rented a vehicle to drive to all the spots they wanted to see.

  3. Wow! That is big. I’d love to be able to visit Arizona one day.
It looks like your nephew and his wife made the very most of their time on vacation. They have visited some wonderful locations. Thank you so much for sharing them with us.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday Carol. x

  4. Impressing! Glad I was not around when this happened! A couple of weeks ago, a small meteorite landed close to my home. I heard a big bang in the middle of the night.
