Decor should reflect personality and your own unique sense of design.
Back in February we discussed ways to Create An Inviting & Welcoming Home. We discussed 2021 design trends, organizing your home, and creating an inviting entry to the home. Making your home cozy and homey is as easy as 1, 2, 3. Today let’s review about 3 little ways you personalize and make your house the perfect cozy home for your family where you can relax and enjoy your space..
I. Make Your Home a Warm Space
During the cold days of winter, your home has to be a warm and cozy haven. If your house feels too cold, you might want to think about making home improvements to conserve energy. Insulation in the walls and extra glazing for windows will ensure that your home feels naturally warmer without having to turn the heating up. This will of course save you a lot of money too. In terms of design, if you have a fireplace, make it the focal point during cold weather. Move favorite chairs close by. Add a throw to the couch or chair.
You should ensure that all systems in your home are working. Whether the weather is cold or hot, you need to know that your hvac system is working. Plan for regular maintenance and even long term replacement of your major system. When you need to fix a problem, be sure to call a professional for a furnace repair or a/c maintenance.
II. Add Homey Details
Personal touches will help you create a homey vibe. These personal details are what make a house a home. Nothing does that quite as well as family photos and art. The most inspiring views are those that you create for yourself. That trip you took that renewed your peace of mind, your child’s laugh that reminds you of all the good in the world, or the details and joy from your wedding day…fill your space with the images that remind you of your best moments and bring you peace.

Then add plush cushions on your sofa and fluffy blankets or throws to create a place to snuggle and hibernate. One of the simplest tricks for a more welcoming home is texture. Texture may not be as obvious, but the impact can be just as dramatic. It adds dimension to a room, and appeals to our senses. Surround yourself with things you would like to touch like natural fibers, metals, or stone. Add texture on the floor with a rug, on the walls with a piece of art, in the room with a carved wooden table or a stone fireplace, and anywhere you use fabrics.
III. Plants and Candles, Candles And More Candles!
Greenery makes a space feel alive. See Add Farmhouse Beauty With Plants for ideas on ways to soften a space with houseplants. If you have trouble keeping even the simplest house plant alive, add a good quality faux basket of green leaves to a shelf or wall.

Finally, nothing makes a home feel cozy like candles do. Candles are the ultimate comfort item. They make your home smell fantastic, they provide a dim light for those dark nights when you just want to curl up on your couch with a blanket and watch some TV. We suggest that you invest in some scented candles and place some in rooms such as the bedroom, the living room and any guest rooms for your guests to use when they come to stay.
I hope that you have found inspiration and ideas to create your own unique space that is cozy all year round. Wishing you a space that delights your senses and embraces your dreams.

…lots of great ideas.
Fab tips Carol. I love cozy decor and especially when fall is just around the corner and we get the candles out and the warm throws.
