New Yellow Tropical Hibiscus

Tropical Hibiscus, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis: Tropical hibiscus grows permanently in the landscape in warmer U.S. Dept of Agriculture  zones 9 through 11, unless they are taken indoors in winter. Outdoors, one freeze – below 25 degrees Fahrenheit – will kill them   A hibiscus flower usually has five petals (a single hibiscus).

Recently I purchased four new tropical hibiscus plants.  Two plants have bright, sunny yellow single hibiscus flowers which is a first for me.

I’ve repotted them and will have them around my front porch this summer.

  1. What pretty flowers. Yellow is such a cheerful colour.
I have some yellow one’s growing in my garden but I don’t know what they are yet. They came from a wildflower seed mix x

  2. Carol – yellow perfection. It brought to mind lemonade, and then butterscotch kisses! Thanks for sharing with Mosaic Monday!

  3. such a lovely yellow hibiscus you have here, Carol. At home, I have white and red hibiscus as well… it’s always nice to see them around blooming and brightening up your day! Cheers from Indonesia…

  4. These grow well in this part of FL too. Yours is so cheery and pretty! We’re getting a little rain shower this afternoon so that will help our flowers grow!

  5. Carol, this is Jesh from theJeshstudio! Deleted my blog because of troubles with the block editor and they sent me on a troubleshooting tour, where I couldn’t see the end of, so I deleted it. I remember you told me you had a plugin – which company? WordPress has one only for the business blogs and cost $300 a year. That’s too much for retired person!

Am considering a red/pink Hibiscus, so I can use it to make my own Hibiscus tea. Thanks for writing me back at http://livingbetweentworealms.wordpress.com My username is now Jeshie2.

    1. I’m so glad you came to visit and to tell me about your new blog. I’ll come right over to visit you. Sorry you had so much trouble with your old blog. I hated it when they went to the new editor and switched to a plugin for the classic editor. I can’t handle the new one. As for hibiscus tea, you need to buy a specific hibiscus for the good healthy tea, Hibiscus Sabdariffa. That is the one used for tea. I wrote about it a few years ago at

  6. I love hisbiscus, and they will always remind me of my late aunt (I even have one in my front yard planted as a tribute to her – not blooming yet.) I don’t think yellow ones are too common here in upstate New York. It’s such a cherry color!

  7. Thought you would be able to see my reply when typing it from my blog, but I don’t see it. Please let me know which plugin you have – I am kind of waiting for it. if you rather not write about that you your blog, you can email me at junie15blooms@yahoo.com Thanks so much for writing me back!
