They say the third time is the charm. Here I go again! Twice in May I shared photos of my last amaryllis. First was the last deep red flower. The next week I was surprised by my white centered red amaryllis that didn’t even bloom last year. I shared it in Last Amaryllis & A Bunny
Then on the 29th of May I see a big bud trying to open on my white amaryllis. By Memorial Day , I had 3 large white flowers.
I know I am thrilled with my surprise from Mother Nature. Who wouldn’t be? Remember all of the amaryllis usually bloom for everyone else in February and March. My red amaryllis in April each year are considered late. It is almost June and I still have flowers blooming. Amazing.

What a lovely surprise for you. They are beautiful. x
All of your flowers are beautiful!! This year my flower color seems to be white and I’m in love with the white amaryllis. I know which color plant I will buy next winter!! Here in the midwest they will bloom for a few months or however long it takes to kill them!! I might try to transplant one for the summer. Never know until you try.
Carol I suggest you buy forced bulbs for Christmas and then plant in a bigger pot. When it is warm, put the pot outside. Bring it in before frost in the fall. They are a semi-tropical plant and will not survive cold weather up north.
Beautiful flowers, Carol! How wonderful that they are continuing to bloom.
thanks Debbie – have a great week!
Beautiful flowers! I’ve only ever seen them grown in pots (for Christmas, ususally). They are gorgeous! x #MMBC

Sometimes I think that flowers and other plants have a sense of humor, they can sure play havoc with our expectations on what to expect.
