Decorating Dollar Store Metal Planter

Galvanized metal planters are very popular in farmhouse decor. Dollar Tree has several styles for $1 each.

There are posts online on how to rust them, paint them, decorate, and age them.

I had orignally thought I would just add simple jute to my little Dollar Tree pot, but then I had a different idea.  Several weeks ago in my wandering online, I saw a photo on a magazine of decorated flower pots.  I couldn’t forget one of them.  This is my attempt to decorate a simple galvanized pot. The words on the pot – Flowers & Garden are my inspiration. Nothing hard or time consuming as I just added leaves and flowers.

I took some green leaves off an old bunch of dollar store flowers.  I removed the plastic and cut the leaves into green strips.  I want my pot to show a generalized view of a garden.

Then I removed two flowers from a dollar store bunch of flowers. Each flower is composed of 4 little flowers.

I cut each little flower off and glued it to the pot on greenery.

It’s a simple little craft but I like the look of my metal flower pot with a little farmhouse charm.  I’ll look at the garden department next week for a small plant to put in it.

Right now I’ll just add faux flowers.

I put my arrangement on a side table with my little wooden pelican.

    1. thanks – I haven’t tried the ginger snaps – I’m usually buying OTC pills, and design stuff. I just love paying a dollar!

    1. thanks Lisa – that’s what I was trying to achieve and it’s hard to photograph. I’m glad you like it.

  1. I’m glad that you left the names on the can. I like them but the lady in the video took them off and I didn’t understand why? Beautiful design that you ended up with the flowers. Well don Carol.
