Seeking Happiness For Others

Great minds have told us for centuries that we will find happiness in helping others.   There is a Chinese saying: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”  In my childhood, I remember learning in Sunday School that it is better to give than receive.

Scientific research has shown that giving is hardwired in the brain—and it’s pleasurable. Helping others may just be the secret to living a life that is not only happier but also healthier, more productive, and meaningful.  Today I’m sharing an inspirational print to remind us of our basic need to help others.

In seeking happiness for others

you will find it within yourself.

  1. Carol, I have so many people around me giving me assistance and I’m one receiving. Without these wonderful friends, I’m not sure how I would make out today. I offer money but they say no. So, I make cookies and bread and cakes to give to them and they smile and are happy. Friends are so wonderful.
