The white frangipani (Plumeria alba) is a deciduous plumeria tree that is native to tropical areas.
Magnolia grandiflora, Southern Magnolia, is a native of Florida and the southeastern U.S. It is one of the most widely grown trees in Florida and also one of the most widely cultivated Magnolias in the world. It is a large, stately, evergreen tree that can grow 30 to 80 feet tall with canopies spreading 30 to 50 feet wide.
Last week I went into the front yard one morning and examined the frangipani tree for leaves. Due to the late cold spells in March, they are very small. In previous years, I ‘ve had frangipani blooms before the end of April. With the temperatures in the 80’s, I’ll watch to see if they grow quickly.

This photo below is from a post on April 24th, 2020.
I was in need of some beauty and walked down the street to my neighbor’s southern magnolia tree. I’ve written about these beautiful trees before and shared photos from my neighbor’s tree. The southern magnolia is a magnificent tree but really does not belong in the small yards in my neighborhood. They will have to cut the tree down before it reaches maxium size to prevent damage to the home’s foundation. Most of the blooms are too high for me to photograph as usual, but I do have one lovely flower to share.

…two white beauties.
I’ve never seen frangipani and I know I’ve never smelled them but oh, what a gift to have these so close at hand. Your spring is gorgeous!
everyone who sees my frangipani photos says they must smell wonderful but I don’t smell anything unless I stick my nose to the flower
April has been good. We had SNOW on the ground, on our cars and all over the place. Last night it was 28 degrees.Hopefully next week we should in the 70’s.

70’s sound good to me – I’ll pass on 28!
Those frangipani and magnolia blossoms are gorgeous, Carol. Thanks for sharing. I wish I could be there to smell the heavenly scent of frangipani. It’s almost intoxicating! we have magnolia trees in PA, but they are not as nice as the southern ones.
I’ve been told that frangipani has an intoxicating smell but mine doesn’t. If I put my nose on the flower, I smell something. Walking by not a whiff! I have a gardenia that I hope will bloom in the next month or so and that of course smells heavenly!
Gorgeous! I have a neighbor who has large plumeria trees planted… some bloom white, others red, and always a treat to walk by when they are in bloom!
I would love a red one but haven’t seen any in garden stores here.
Plenty of good shots.
we have magnolia in Louisiana, but not this kind of beautiful flowers…
Have a wonderful day
frangipani or plumeria or a tropical tree – think Hawaii. They can grow in my semi-tropical region but a good frost can kill them.
The white flower is beautiful X #mysundayphoto
Love those blooms!
My inlaws when they lived in southeast Oklahoma had a huge magnolia tree in their yard which was not that big. The tree and its blossoms were wonderful.
I really love flowering trees and we have so many varieties that have just begun blooming up here; though none nearly as tropical looking as the ones in your yard and neighborhood.
You may not have tropical, but you have many fruit trees that I do not have in central Florida – cherry, apple, plum, etc. The grass is always greener on the other side.
What gorgeous and interesting looking flowers
Thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto
I have severe Magnolia envy and can’t wait till we’re back in the UK for good so I can invest in one #mysundayphoto
The magnolia is beautiful. We’ve got a big magnolia on our front garden, but needless to say it is a different variety!
It’s remarkable how much a cold spring can delay the blossoms. We’ve had a very cold spring here too and I think the garden is two or three weeks later than it was last year.
Magnolia blooms are magnificent, Thanks for joining in Garden Affair.
