March Flowers 2021

Most hibiscus are single hibiscus with 5 leaves.  Thanks to modern cultivation techniques, some varieties can produce flowers with more than five petals – called “double hibiscus” – in a dazzling array of colors, sizes, and shapes. They grow in semi-tropical and tropical growing zones here in the U. S.  (zones 9 to 11)

A couple of weeks ago I shared peach double hibiscus blooming in the back yard after a rain here in central Florida.  When the northern states got snow last week, we got a cooler front with rain.

That of course was followed by blue skies and flowers.  It is after all Florida.

That means my peach tropical hibiscus has gone crazy with beautiful blooms.

I love blue skies and flowers.

    1. Most hibiscus only bloom for about a day. They really aren’t great cutting flowers although I do that too. I just love the bright colors

  1. Your photos of blue skies contrasting with the peach hibiscus are beautiful! I must bring my hibiscus inside every winter. I can probably put them outside again in about a month or so.

    1. Hibiscus are a tropical plant so you are doing a good job of protecting them. When it’s safe, I bet you get beautiful blooms. Be sure to share some photos when they bloom. I’d love to see them.

  2. The Periwinkles i have. Hibiscus is grown in Trinidad and Tobago, but i never planted on. Thats something i still have to do

    1. Single and double each have their own beauty, but the ruffled petals on a double are soft and lovely. Thanks so much for the visit Stephanie.

  5. Carol – these flowers are glorious, filling almost all of our senses. I especially like the photo in front of the fence … superb contrast! Thanks for sharing this Florida beauty with the rest of us at Mosaic Monday!
