A Special Heart That Listens

I don’t write about politics here on my blog. Yes, there are times I am venting to my sister or friend, but I don’t like me when I do that. I don’t like who I become when I’m angry. The craziness of the last year has brought out so much anger and irrational behavior everywhere. I firmly believe our country is special in many ways, but sometimes Americans are just not nice. You know what I mean.  I believe that we have the right to disagree. I must admit sometimes I think my head will explode when I read folks’ nasty rants on Facebook, twitter, or anywhere.  I avoid those. I will drop someone on Twitter for several reasons – you stop following me, you post about explicit sex, or you rant nasty things about people you don’t like. Nope, I don’t want to read it. Yes you have the right to disagree and I have the right to not want to hear it.

I like to do inspirational printables. Since high school, I like to print out some quote that speaks to me and put it up where I’ll see it.  I remember in college I printed a quote I loved and put it by the light switch in my dorm room. I saw it everytime I turned the light on and off.  It was a reminder.   One of my favorite things is the idea of kindness. It costs nothing and really can change someone’s day, week, or life.  We don’t always know what pain someone is fighting both physically and emotionally.  I’ve made multiple inspirational printables about kindness.  Today I’m offering a wonderful quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald:

To be kind is more important than to be right.  Many times, what people need is not a brilliant mind that speaks but a special heart that listens.

I love that phrase – a special heart that listens.  There are times when all somone needs is a supportive listener.  The listener doesn’t have to fix anthing really, you just want them to be there.  I think many of us need a reminder about kindness, and you know I like to play with graphics.  I made the quote in two designs; one is a floral wreath and the other is a simple black and white print. I hope they speak to you and your special heart.

I’ve already made several more inspirational winter prints that I’ll share in the next few weeks. Stay well and happy my friends.
