Last week I went to Publix for a few fresh items. It was a beautiful Friday with blue skies.
Vickie has helped me redo another flower bed, and I am shopping for a gift of flowers. Pubix has a nice floral department. When you come in the front doors, turn to the right and go past the pharmacy. Next is flowers and then their awesome bakery. These are hard places for me to pass anytime I shop. After I got the flowers, I got cake for her too.
The display changes with seasons but there are a few year-round stand-bys.
For fans of Florida State University, there are small pumpkins imprinted with either FSU or a ‘gater.
I love their 3 for $12 small bunches; this is where I often put together a great larger bouquet.
There is a section of fall bouquets with bright yellows.
Then there is a section of potted orchids – I love them, but can’t grow them. You’ll note to the bottom right is a very fake blue orchid. I really don’t like them dyeing white orchids. White orchids are beautiful without an unreal color added.
As pretty as the orchids are, I know an orchid won’t survive in Vickie’s house with her cats and grandsons.
Instead of a fall bouquet, I found a nice size potted chrysanthemum, perfect for fall. It will last longer than a bouquet too.
During the months that I only had food delivered, visiting the floral department was one of my biggest longings. Now I go once a week or two wearing a mask and arriving before 10:30 am when there are fewer shoppers. This particular Friday, I really enjoyed looking at all the flowers. Thanks for coming along.

Beautiful flowers! I am actually not a big fan of mixed bouquets – I like singular colours – but I can imagine it is fun to mix and match for this selection.
…Publix is a lot more upscale since I knew them in the ’60s!
The thing I miss most about going to the store (apart from picking out my own produce) is not getting fresh flowers. These look lovely.
I’m agree – I love looking at fresh produce, all the pretty flowers
What amazing flowers!
It continues to amaze me t hat one can go take photos for free of the floral departments at grocery stores. That’s the main reason I tag along with Heather. Plus I like to eavesdrop on conversations. Spousal fights and mother daughter spats are my favorite.
We don’t have Publix here, we go the one in Gulf Shores, AL on vacation (no vacation this year). I love their stores, big, airy, good beer selection, and lots of fights and spats to listen in on. Occasionally you get a woman with one of those bathing suits where their butt is bare. I am actually kind of embarrassed on their behalf. What gets me is all the married men that follow them around trying to start up conversations. I am really really embarrassed for them.
oh my Alan, I don’t know what to say. I go in there in my own little world and shop and really don’t pay attention to people’s conversations – you’re funny! I don’t live real close to a beach so I don’t see the bottoms – but I do if I go to Walmart!
I love Publix! They are more expensive but the quality of food, especially meat is great, and and they do have the best floral department. Plus, the bakery is the best of any store I’ve been to, especially their Carrot Cake Bar, YUM!
my favorite is strawberry shortcake which is a slice of heaven – the icing has cream in it! oh, I can’t forget the raspberry cake with cream cheese icing!
What a wonderful flower selection! I’m not a fan of the fake dyed flowers either. I like your blue sky shots!
thanks Peter. I don’t mind green carnations at St. Patrick’s Day but I think a pretty white orchid should be left alone. Also when it loses its blooms, goes dormant and then re-blooms, you get white flowers anyway.
Very blue sky.
Great sky shot and lovely floral photos for the season ~ ^_^

Wow your Publix Floral department is much nicer than our area. They are downsizing the florals in our stores.
are you in Ga or FL?
How wonderful to be able to buy flowers at the supermarket. So convenient! I am always tempted by the orchids, but I can never get them to bloom again after their initial blooms fall off.
I can’t grow orchids and no longer try – they always die on me.
Greetings from the land of orchids – just stopping by to admire yours – I agree no colour necessary! Have a lovely weekend!
Have a beautiful weekend!
what a neat idea to snap flower pictures at Publix 🙂 yes, more expensive but top quality in the meat and produce departments (though I have to admit i stop at Aldi first )
I have not entered Aldi since beginning of March. I have had a few deliveries from them, but the store is too small and crowded for the pandemic. Besides, I’ve always loved my local Publix flower selection over any other store. It depends on the particular Publix but mine is a winner.
I love seeing other country’s stores. I’ve not heard of Publix before. It certainly has a good flower department. The blue orchid is a strange one. I’m with you. I love to see the markings on an orchid’s petals and that is beauty enough. #mmbc
Wow! Looks like a florist shop!

Fabulous sky shot, Carol!
And such pretty floral photos!
The flowers are lovely! You are wise to avoid crowds.
What a lovely trip with awesome photos! Sometimes, I miss the convenience of town.
Our new garden has orchids and I’m excited as I’ve never even thought of growing them before!
