Autumn Picture Ledge

For fall I am adding texture, natural materials, and rustic details. My goal is a rustic coastal home with lots of tans, textures, and browns.  I wanted my heron printable from the classic book, Birds of Australia, on the dining room picture ledge. I put it in a new aged white frame and added a shabby chic dollar store pumpkin on each end.  I made those a few years ago.  I measured a length of jute against it for size and adjusted the length.

I wanted lots of texture and added some dried dollar store moss, a few sticks, and finally a couple of corks.

For the garland, I made a few ornaments using Christmas oranment hangers, shells and wood circles.  I glued 2 wooden circle together with a metal hanger in between.

I glued a wooden circle to the back of shells with a hanger between the 2.  I attached the large shell directly to the ledge as its weight would be too much for the garland.  I hung the rest on the jute cord.

I made a few adjustments in the elements on the ledge and was satisfied.  I’m very happy with my coastal picture ledge for fall.  I have a few more items to add to the dining room and my decor will be complete.  I’ll try to share both rooms next week.  Happy Fall Y’all!

    1. thanks – trying to find new ways to decorate it is fun. Adding the picture ledge was one of my smartest decorating moves. Hope you have a great day!

  1. I love this, Carol. It says fall, it says your environment (sea). I love the colors, the simplicity. The moss is great and I’m going to remember that for my arrangements. Splendid.

  2. I think I like the Fall Harvest type decorating pretty much as well as Christmas. Love your idea for the picture ledge. So clever. Great picture and frame. Thanks for visiting me so I could come visit you. Happy weekend.

  3. I love your fall picture ledge Carol. Very creative. I’ve really enjoyed making autumn/fall crafts the past few days. Fabric pumpkins are taking over our home!

    Have a lovely Sunday. x

  4. I love fall projects. This one is so pretty!
