Apple Orchards For Family Fun

Back in 2016 I first wrote about apple orchards in September for family fun.  This updated post has new photos and information about Plymouth Orchards. Plymouth, Michigan.

It’s September and it’s apple season. If you are lucky enough to live in an area where apples grow, you know how wonderful apple orchards and cider mills are. My sister lives in Michigan and after Labor Day, everyone loves to go to the cider mills, apple orchards and farms. If you want to pick your own apples, there are orchards waiting for you. If you just want to buy beautiful fruit and cider, go to the old-time cider mills.

Visiting an apple orchard or mill is great family fun to start off the season. The trees are starting to get a blush or yellowing, and nature knows fall is around the corner. Living in Florida, I miss the fall atmosphere and cider mill fun.  It means family time to me as I have always gone with my sister’s family to enjoy the apples and treats.  With the pandemic, I did not travel to visit my family this year, and I will miss all the fresh apples, cider, and donuts.  Going for drives in the country to look at changing trees, stopping for warm donuts and cider, and buying apples, local honey, and numerous other treats are some of my best memories.  Today we’ll visit the Plymouth Orchards and Cider Mill in Michigan.  Welcome in the fall season with award-winning apple cider, fresh donuts, wagon rides and live music at a working organic orchard and farm.

Meander about the orchard to see the petting farm, go on a hayride, listen to live music or pick out a pumpkin to take home.

They offer a nice little shop area with baking mixes, honey, apples of course, and some organic selections of garlic, pumpkins and gourds.

See the pumpkin field, take a ride through the farm, or see the field of sunflowers.

If you would like to find orchards, cider mills, and farms close to you, there are several directories online. Enjoy the season, the fruit, and the fun.

  1. That sunflower field is beautiful. I love doing the orchard thing in the fall although I’m not sure about this year. There are a couple not so far from us. We don’t usually pick but I love the shop. It’s the only time of year I ever eat donuts!

  2. We love apple picking as a family! Thanks for this great post. Visiting today from Tuesdays with a Twist. Have a great weekend!

  3. Oh is it? I’ll have to go see if we can go pick some. That would be a great way to get out for a bit (only that there’s so much smoke in the air with all the fires raging in CA. :()

Have a good weekend, Carol. 🙂

    1. I wouldn’t spend too much time in that smoke from CA – I have asthma. I’m praying the fires stop soon and your sky is clear.

  4. What beautiful fall photos. We are lucky enough to live in an area with lots of orchards (Lancaster County, PA). My grandsons and I go apple picking each fall. Sunflower picking sometimes too!

  5. Hello Carol, These are sad times many people are missing family gathering and fun times. The visit to the apple orchard does look like a fun place. Pretty views of the sky and pumpkins. The donuts look yummy. Take care, enjoy your day! Wishing you a happy weekend ahead.

  6. What a fun place! I guess fall is in the air there but it’s fun to celebrate with pumpkins and apples! I’m glad you shared this place along with the adorable resident critters 🙂

How great to see you at ‘My Corner of the World’ this week!! Thanks for linking.

  7. We just went to the apple orchard this week! I love picking apples and trying all the delicious apple treats they have available. Pinned.

  8. Carol – your post captures the essence of Autumn in the Midwest. Oh, I could just taste the apples when I looked at the poster with all the varieties! With a donut chaser! Thanks SO much for sharing these glorious fall photos with everyone at Mosaic Monday!

  9. LOvely photos, Carol! When we live din NY we often went up state in autumn to pick apples. There are not many apple orchards in Colorado so now we visit a pumpkin farm instead to pick pumpkins–eqaully fun!
