Early Sunday Flowers

Most mornings I walk in the yard between 8 and 9 am.  Summer in Florida is really hot and I like to get out before the heat and humidity are in the 90’s.  Today’s photos are of the periwinkle (vinca) beside the front porch and the miniature Mexican petunia in the flower bed beside the porch.

I was raised in Tennessee but have lived in Florida for many years. Love my small home in the Tampa Bay area and its developing garden. My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. Hello, Beautiful flowers and images. I love the pretty colors, flowers just make you happy. A nice way to start your day, walking around the garden. Take care, enjoy your day! Wishing you a happy new week!

  2. Gorgeous flowers! I’m in Florida too. If I don’t get out nice and early it’s just not happening, just too hot. Hopefully things will start to cool down at least a little bit soon. Have a great week 🙂

  3. It’s so humid in the mornings and there is NO breeze lately. But I love your flowers. We were so happy to find the miniature Mexican petunias. They are so much prettier than the tall ones. Enjoy your day!

    1. miniature Mexican petunias are not invasive like the large Mexican petunia and they will try to bloom all year if it’s not too cold and they get watered

  4. Very pretty! We’ve been trying to get out and walk a bit whenever the weather allows too as it has been an unusually hot and muggy summer here. #MMBC

  5. Carol – yes, mornings and evenings are the way to go in Florida. I have very fond memories of my vinca in Ohio. We are having a heat wave in Montana right now. Good thing we spent the day on the river! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday!

  6. Hi Carol 🙂 Your flowers are so beautiful! I’m a morning gal but I do love the heat and humidity too, I guess it’s due to our really cold winters. Beautiful photos! I love those periwinkles!

  7. The flowers are beautiful! I can’t imagine temperatures that hot. I’m not surprised that you get out early in the morning.

  8. I used to always walk early before breakfast, but age and/or laziness have taken their toll and I don’t seem to have the strength. I am trying to get out right after breakfast while it’s so hot (but not Florida hot). Your flowers are sweet!

I love to make new friends and get to know you.
