Adding A Picture Ledge in the Dining Room

Back in October, I wrote about my research on picture ledges . I choose a solid wooden white one made by a gentlemen on Etsy.   In the middle of November, my handyman put it up.  I added the art from the wall and a few pine cones.  I really like it better than hanging the frame on the wall.

Now it’s time to make it perfect for winter and December.   I took 2 small clay pots from Dollar Tree and added white paint.   I added flicks of paint to 2 pine cones – red, green, gold, and then topped with white for snow.

A winter pine tree at each end of the ledge with a change in art to my Flower Deer Holiday Print.  To complete the vignette, I added a rustic vintage angel.

I used fresh cranberries and popcorn to make a garland.

I hung the garland on removable hooks to the side of the picture ledge.  Now my vignette is complete.

In the corner of the dining room I placed a vintage blue Santa on my wooden stand.  Above the stand I changed my wood slice chalk board to Merry Christmas.

I wanted a winter wreath to top the layers. I used a small wreath form from Dollar Tree with 2 white mesh bathing scrubs.  I wrapped the mesh around the form to make a white wreath.

I added a homemade wood slice ornament I just received.

Now my dining room is ready for winter and Christmas! I really love my new picture ledge. It’s so much fun to decorate.

  1. You are so resourceful and creative Carol. I agree that sometimes it is better to place a frame on a shelf rather than hanging. Enjoy your holiday season, it’s my favorite time of the year.

  2. Love your ideas for bringing a touch of the season to your living spaces:)
