Sunny May Table

It’s the first day of May and we’ve been having wonderful weather the last few weeks. This year we have actually had spring! Yeah! All too often Florida goes from winter straight into hot, humid summer with little in-between. About 10 days ago a storm blew in from across the Gulf and brought slightly cooler weather. One day with a high in the 60’s followed by 5 days with highs in the 70’s. I’ve been smiling the whole time.

Today I’m celebrating with a sunny May table with a bouquet of hydrangea and yellow tulips. I can’t really grow either of them and bought them at Publix supermarket. They have small bouquets at 3 for $12 and I went crazy for the soft colors.

My tablecloth is a thrift store find in yellow. The vase is in a rustic old wooden tray – another thrift store find. I filled the tray with small green plants and yellow lemons.

My place setting starts with a white plate and topped with a vintage salad plate with spring flowers. The last layer is a green Depression sherbet glass.

The striped napkins are in vintage goose napkin holders.

I tied white cord around the glass base and I’m done.

  1. What a beautiful and cheerful display! I love hydrangeas, I have a few in the garden.
I always love seeing your thrifty finds too. It just goes to show that you don’t have to spend much to get fabulous results. #MMBC

    1. It’s funny you should say that about thrifty finds – one of my goals in doing posts on decorations is to prove you don’t have to have lots of money to have a pretty place.

  2. I love the light-colored hydrangeas. I’m used to seeing blue or purple ones. And the yellow tulips with the hydrangeas make such a cheerful, Spring bouquet! Happy May!

  3. Beautiful bouquet and table settings. I used to live in South Florida, so I know what you mean about going directly from winter to summer, bypassing spring. I’m glad you’ve having a lovely May.

  4. Such a lovely presentation! We are still grey and rainy here, so this was a definite mood brightener. You have a real flair for decorating, Carol.

  5. It just snowed here in Colorado! I’m ready for some nice spring weather. Those flowers are delightful! #outdoorsymommy.com

  6. Beautiful tablescapes. Loved the hydrangeas and your photos were great! Thanks for doing us for the #WednesdayAIMLinkParty 36
