What is happiness? How can I be happy? Scientists have studied the nature of happiness, poets have written beautiful thoughts, and countless people through time have gone in search of happiness. It’s so easy to get caught up in the latest problem, failure, or minor disaster at work or home. Happiness isn’t something that just happens to you. Everyone has the power to make small changes in our behavior, our surroundings and our relationships that can help set us on course for a happier life.
I believe happiness often comes from within. It is a choice we make each and every day. We have to learn how to tame negative thoughts and approach every day with optimism. As I shared several years ago, I have my inspirational thought “Today I choose Joy” in a handcrafted frame in the living room. When I sit in my chair early in the morning after opening the blinds, I briefly look at my reminder and then watch the sunrise.
Today I want to share with you another moving quote that reminds me to be present in the moment and that happiness is a choice. Happiness isn’t when you have more money, get a better job, or a new home, although all these things are wonderful. Remember your life is where you are right now, today, this moment. Yes, make plans for a better life but don’t waste the precious moments of today.
Be happy
for this moment.
This moment is your life.

These are simply charming, Carol. Thank you!
Have a beautiful day!
Beautiful! I absolutely believe that happiness comes from within. We are each responsible for our own happiness.
What lovely ideas and words. Sometimes things can all seem a bit much, it’s good to take a moment to settle your mind and choose happiness. I think I’m going to make myself a cup of tea and take a moment!
Enjoy your tea and have a beautiful day!
I’ve never heard this quote before…I love it!
I too have a printable of “Today I Choose Joy”. Mine is in a frame on my desk in my home office.
I LOVED the verse you shared today. I’m trying to be more mindful in my day to day life, and trying to be more present in every moment.
Thanks for the download and thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome! Have a blessed night!
Carol, that first frame is just stunning. I too am a firm believer in a positive attitude helping you to go a long way!
These are lovely sentiments and your printable looks great. Your morning routine sounds like a wonderful way to start each day, Carol.
Today, let me choose joy, too.
Thank you for the inspiration, Carol. 🙂
so lovely. I always surround myself with quotes. One of my favorite is “You are awesome” and I tell everyone who comes into my office that its for them 😀
I love that you do that. You are an amazing person!
We may not always feel happy or joyous, but focusing on blessings rather than problems can help us in our journey with joy. Gratitude and joy compliment one another! Beautiful prints, Carol!
Thanks Kristin!
