Vintage St. Nicholas Prints

I love vintage prints and Christmas is the perfect time for a vintage St. Nicholas print.  Today I’m sharing 2 vintage prints I downloaded for free from the New York Public Library. They offer many scans of vintage cards that have no current copyright, and I like both of my selections.  First I used editing software to clean up these 100 year-old Christmas cards. Using filters I lightened the gray and brought out the original colors. I increased the DPI (dots per inch) and resized the card for modern frames.  Below is the dull original graphic I downloaded. The snow is dirty.

Now the print Saint Nicholas and Children is bright and colorful and sized 10″ x 8″.

The second vintage Christmas card is St Nicholas in the Snow. I sized it 8″ x 10″.

  1. These are just charming, Carol. I can see why you selected those. There is something about the vintage print that warms the heart, especially at Christmas.

Thanks for coming by Marmelade Gypsy yesterday! Always nice to see your kind comments~!

    1. It’s always a pleasure conversing with you Jeanie. I agree the vintage prints warm my heart and I do have a thing for the original thin St Nick vs Coca Cola’s fat guy. Don’t get me wrong he’s good too but for centuries a slender elderly man was pictured bringing presents. I like him.

  2. Thanks so much Carol for partying with us at the #WednesdayAIMLinkParty and Giveaway! We hope to see you at our next party on Dec-19-2018.

  3. These are beautiful, Carol! They would make lovely gifts as well. Sharing on the H&S Facebook page a bit later today. Thank you for sharing, and for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party. Hope to see you again this week. Have a great week ahead!

  4. Looks nice!! Thanks so much for linking up at #AThemedLinkup 6 for All Things Christmas. Shared.
