Christmas at Bok Tower Gardens

Bok Tower Gardens

Lake Wales, Florida

Last spring we visited Bok Tower Gardens for spring blooms and toured Pinewood Estates and gardens.  Today let’s visit Bok Tower Gardens annual Christmas celebration. Come and enjoy poinsettia, bromeliad and amaryllis displays, live music on the 205-foot Singing Tower carillon, Sunset & Symphony Holiday Concert with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra (Dec. 1), winter walking tours, and a variety of educational programs.

The Holiday Home Tour at Pinewood Estate began on November 23 from 10 am to 4 pm until January 6, 2019. The tour will give you a first hand experience of post WWII era Florida and an in-depth look into Mr. Bucks family as they come visit for the Christmas holidays. Join the three oldest Buck siblings Lucy, Dorothy and Leonard as they unfurl their amazing stories from the many adventures they had at Pinewood Estate.

The 20 room, 1932 Mediterranean-style estate’s decorations change each Christmas, and no two years are ever the same.  Today’s photos are from the last few years Christmas decorations.

Every room is decorated including the bathrooms.

There are 4 bedrooms and each is styled differently. First is the granddaughters’ room.

Next is the grandson’s bedroom.

Then the bedroom of Mr. Buck’s daughter and her husband.

Mr Buck’s Suite in Pinewood Estate reflects his love for America and his respect for the brave men and women who serve.  He was a military consultant for Bethlehem Steel

The other rooms of the house are also colorfully decorated.

Remember, each year the decorations are different, but there will always be lots of Christmas trees and decorations.

In the garden even the fountain is surrounded by poinsettias.

If you are in central Florida in December, take a day to explore Bok Tower Garden and Pinewood Estate Mansion. For more information on the garden or its history, see my spring post, Bok Tower Gardens.

One year there was a Christmas tree made of bromeliads.

Candy cane thanks for visiting

My decorating style is eclectic - some vintage, some cottage, all with a modern flair. Pursuing a healthier lifestyle. Spent many years in social services but am happily retired.

  1. Love, love, love that bathroom with the green tile! What a beautiful place — each room is lovely. Thanks for taking us there! (And for your visits to Marmelade Gypsy, too!)

    1. It’s always a pleasure to visit you and I do appreciate your visits and comments so much Jeanie. Have a beautiful day!

  2. I love poinsettias at Christmas. Growing up, I would always be amazed at my church’s tree made entirely out of poinsettias. Bok Tower Gardens looks like a perfect place to enjoy the season!

  3. Love these photos. I live a little over an hour from Lake Wales and have been by Bok Tower Gardens many times but never stopped. I’d like to go there one day soon and visit Pinewood Estates and gardens also.

    1. You should really visit it – you’re so close. If you like quiet gardens and the towers chimes pealing out over the grounds, it’s a perfect place to sit and relax.

  4. I like the green tile too, and really impressed that they have meticulously maintained much of the decor and fixtures over the years. Beautiful mansion and grounds!

  5. I love Bok Tower and Pinewood is just gorgeous!! Thanks for reminding me to plan a trip to Lake Wales!!

    1. It’s such a beautiful place – if you don’t go for the holidays, go this spring when the azaleas are in bloom.

  6. I never thought too much about poinsettias, but my mother loved them and after she passed, I fell in love with poinsettias as they remind me of her. Those are beautiful and what a fun place to visit.

    1. Oh my that’s a sweet thought.Chocolate covered cherries always reminds me of my mother. She loved them.

  7. My parents lived in Lake Wales and visited every year since 1984 but have never visited Bok Towers. I live in Lake Wales now and promised myself that I will visit this Christmas season. Your pictures of the beautiful home convinced me this is the year to finally go!

  8. What a beautiful garden and home! Thanks for the fun tour. Thank you for sharing on Merry Monday! We hope you will join us again next week!
