Talking With Birds

Right up front let me say this is a crazy post. I know and I apologize. I’ve been under a strain for the last few weeks.  Remember these guys from last spring? Baby sandhill cranes with parents over by my friend’s house?  Well, they’re still around but all grown up now.

I love birds – really I do. These fellows are used to people and not afraid. Well that’s fine and dandy but try to tell them that napping in the street isn’t a good idea. Go ahead. See where it gets you!  Grr…. I got only irritated looks and back went the head on the wing.  My friend was laughing hysterically. Last thought to the birds, ” I guess you’ll move when the cars come.”

  1. Amazing birds, we just get pigeons here

Have a good Sunday and thank you for linking up to #MySundayPhoto

  2. Wow, look at them! That’s amazing. I know you said they are used to people but I don’t think I would want to get too close. #MySundayPhoto

  3. Hi Carol, how lovely to be able to watch the baby cranes grow into adult cranes, but I must say it is a surprise they made it if they have a habit of napping in the road! Just seeing them balanced with such presision on that one leg is a very impressive party trick!

    1. this is the first time I’ve seen that – of course, I don’t live over there but my friend hadn’t seen it before.

  4. If you’re crazy, then so am I – I am always talking to animals of all kinds – knowing full well they don’t understand … and it’s usually when I am worried they are in danger and need help! I just hope others in your neighborhood are as considerate as you! Enjoy your week ahead (and I hope it brings some relief from your stress …)

    1. Thanks Angie – it’s really my friend’s neighborhood but most of her neighbors love the birds like she does.

  5. A crazy post is okay for All Seasons, Carol! And while reading, I kept chuckling! I guess SOME birds think the road it their territory, lol! It made me remember of the time, that a group of turkeys suddenly crossed the road, close to an intersection (so their were more cars), screeching brakes, and I heard the rustle of feathers touching the car. We made it out of there – all alive – birds as well as people:):) nevertheless these sandhill cranes look elegant:)

  6. I do hope they move if a car comes by! I talk to the bunnies, squirrels and deer that visit my yard and some times they listen –smile

  7. I would love to see those birds but it would be disconcerting to have them take over open spaces like that. I would say you have a problem!Hope you can find a solution!!

  8. They really are quite beautiful.
We have a lot of cranes here as we are on the edge of the Everglades, however, not this variety.
    The faces are very unusual.

    Thanks for sharing!
